Flashing O/D light, Shift Solenoid Fix

Need some eyes to review photos and ask for further assistance on what he means with the shifter pin. Take a look at the 1st and 2nd photos and what is written below. The car is a Kia but the steps are the same to replace a solenoid for Mazdas like ours. Can someone explain better what he means by "insuring that the shifter pin is in the "key way" slot between the 2 metal circles? Otherwise, the car won't go in reverse, only forward in ALL gears.

lol in my quest to fix my tranny problem i have come acrossed that same post can you tell me what problem and trouble code you are getting?also i never understood it as well the manual is even less informative you should not have to remove that fork to test or change any solenoid currently i have removed mines without disrupting the valve body!! you can test with with a 12v battery as well if you need any assistance let me know
