F1, CART or NASCAR?

So which do you prefer F1, NASCAR or CART? Who really cares about IRL? I know I dont

I love Cart first, because Ive covered it every year it comes to toronto for the past 6 years (working in journalism)

Also cuz of all the Canadians

I have gotten really into NASCAR lately, although damnit someone put Ricky Rudd back in the Tide Car!!!!

F! = Boring - snoozefest, whoever leads from the first corner will win unless their car blows up

post what you think

Speed World Challenge!!!

Touring Car series, because our Proteges (and Roger Foo's Protege5!!!) are in it!!!!! :D :D :D

oh yeah, out of those 3, I guess CART, F1's always on way late at night when I'm sleeping already :(

and NASCAR? blech!!!!

Oh of course super touring...I figured that was a given with P5's MP3's and Protege Sedans running around in that circuit...so cool to see the same car i drive runing around a course like that..what a wicked tour.....

I don't really care for car races like those. I do think NASCAR i boring. Going around in a circle for like 500 miles or so. Not fun, just my thoughts.

You know midnight I thought the same thing until I started to watch it and really see it what its for...CART and F1 are very intricate and if you bump your car you pull it off and park it for the day.....the races are also shorter

With Nascar it has some character to it...where else do you see cars at the end of the race burning around the Oval without a hood or missing a bumper, or smacked up in the side...There is contact in these races and it isnt penalized that much..In Cart as soon as you bump someone it seems Hinesfeld (i think he is their head marshall) slaps you with a $10,000 fine....I love CART but Nascar has something to it if you stick with a whole race...that and to keep your car going fast for 500 laps of one track says a lot about a racer and his team

Just my thought, although i do see why some people cant watch Nascar

I pick none of the above. But NASCAR is purely suck. Why not to make a circle railway and run the train 500 laps???
It is simply stupid....and pointless....

But damn~~~ I see more NASCAR than any 4 wheels machine in speedvision.

:( :( :(

All of those can go to hell, especially nascar. LeMans is the way to go. I love it when they race at Laguna Seca cuz I know every turn that they take. Yeah I play GT2

FIA WRC! Its the best style of racing out there, im sorry but its just is. Then F1, and NASCAR is a waist of time. 500 left hand turns? I mean honestly, come on now, how dull can you get.

Any of you NASCAR bashers ever try Stock Car Racing !!! beleive me its more that going in circles for 500 laps dont speak to what you dont know. Your opinion is different thats cool.

Yes i have driven other forms as well so no need to go there!!! if your a real race fan you appreciate them all for what they are F1 to me is boring as hell its the same guy all the time hes been the points leader since some time in 2000 i think and the way things look will be for a while still BUT man those are awesome machines and great drivers.

Does NHRA suck?? its over in 4.7 seconds and you only race one other person but...

These are just my hunble opinions but still if you have never tried something you have no refrence.

I have decided im not done LOL

"I pick none of the above. But NASCAR is purely suck. Why not to make a circle railway and run the train 500 laps???"

Did you bother to watch the race on the weekend 43 cars 3 lines side by side 190 MPH ya thats boring !!++

Not specifically picking on you ocean just wanted a refrence.

Again this is just my opinion as yours is yours.

glad we have this racing/motorsports section

so we can argue  against each other on what kind of racing we like :D

to me, NASCAR is racing in its simplest form, more focus on the competition among the drivers than conquering the course. The reason I'm not too thrilled with it is because IT'S EVERYWHERE!!!! WHERE CAN I GET SOME RELIEF!!!

same thing goes for IRL, but having only oval races is a complete waste on an open-wheel formula car :(

F1 is the highest level of motor racing, no doubt. But there are very valid concerns that all the technologies have trivialized the competition among drivers. The team with the most money to put into the car will have much more success than smaller teams (the New York Yankees syndrome :o)

NHRA is stupid, it's over in less than 5 seconds, and the only thing the driver ever do is shift gears and hold on to the steering wheel.

FIA WRC is the almost exact opposite of NASCAR. The focus is driver vs. the course, and that makes it fun because they run in ALL weather conditions!!!!

CART has a little bit of both ovals and road courses, which makes it a very good open wheel series. And having a much stricter car setup makes for more even competition among drivers compared to F1. Biggest problem with CART is marketing, they lack the attention NASCAR is getting among major media networks :(

and then we have the touring car series from World Speed Challenge. Did I mention that's my favorite series right now :D :D

Sometime on I think fox sports net...or espn the have speedvision/channel coverage of the ??? race...you know the one with bimmers, vettes, mustangs, 911's, vipers...very cool....I like, super touring (do they still have the super touring in America series...anyone remember that?)...LeMans...will never forget a few years back that benz car flipped into the air and then the trees ...also....drag racing (to see top fuel live is insane...but I don't follow the series...I like to watch cars that are more realistic...import drag is cool...also pikes peak...rally...paris/dakar....gotta love monster trucks lol GRAVE DIGGER! lol....and top speed salt flat racing....The problem is its so hard to catch this stuff on TV...is their any other channel or way I can catch coverage of these types of racing besides speed channel?

I was at the LA car show...and one vendor had a tv playing clips of what looked like rally racing in some French town...MAn...insane stuff...their was a Citroen that went right into a rain ditch...a minute of silence and then all of a sudden the car rockets out with only 3 wheels and kept on racing!!! Where can I get these tapes?

In my opinion, F1 sucks. I went to the US Grand Prix last year in Indy. It's a parade. The 2 or 3 really big buck teams lead, and unless someone screws up their 8 second pitstop (Because anyone can change 4 tires and fill up a 40gallon tank in 8 seconds) it's parade. I'm not wasting my money on that again. It was stupid.
As for Cart, I don't care much for it either. As long as Andretti is still driving, I can't deal with his whining. He like the little b**ch of motorsports. Just can't stand him.
As for Nascar, I enjoy it. Not that I'm a HUGE fan, but I really like the short tracks. Bristol and Martinsville are my favorites. Lots of bumpin and rubbin. Nothing like a good grudge match.
As for my all around favorties, they didn't make your list. I like WRC and the American LeMans series. WRC, well it's obvious: STRAIGHT BADASS! The LeMans series is sweet prototype cars on sweet tracks. Nothing better than a good endurance race to prove a car AND drivers worth.

IMO, all forms of racing have their plusses and minuses.

NHRA...4.5 Seconds and it is over, yeah it is quick...Try to imagine hanging onto a car with 1500 H.P. let alone 5000. And yes it is a straight line but again, think of holding onto all that power.

NASCAR...is my favorite, I agree with you Racer91, I was just at Talladega and WOW 43 cars, 3-4 wide at 190 mph. The closest thing I can relate the feeling to is stand at some tracks when a train is going by. That is the feeling I had in our seats...and they were about 150' up...row 73 in the tower section near the start finish line. I would love to see them race on more road courses however...I know the drivers don't like it but I think it says a lot about the mechanics and drivers that do well at a road course.

The touring car series and SCCA series on Speed channel are also among my favorites...reason is that these are as close to a 'stock' car as we can buy and it is enjoyable to see how well they really perform as the manufacturer made them.

CART, IRL and F1, They are ok but I really can't get into them.

As I can't afford a Grand Prix to take to Daytona, I guess I will just dream of going 190+ and have my fantasies when sliding around an apex at the local airport autox course in my MP3....Hey, I wonder if I could talk Dale Jr. into racing with us?

I agree. The Speed World Challenge is the best!
I have the last two seasons on video tape. I never miss an event!

I have this in my Favorites!

My Favorite Link

Check it out! once you see an event your hooked.
Roger Foo's Civic Hatchback Won First Place in Laguna Seca Last Year! This year he is driving a yellow P5 with 200+ horsepower. He was a rookie last year! I think we should see that P5 in the Top 5 Really soon! It's brand new so they are still tuning that thing.

Speedvision World Challenge is the Best!

i love all forms of racing, whether it be WRC, F1, NASCAR or CART...whatever it is i love it. dont knock nascar, it may be boring to watch but seriously it takes a lot of skill to pilot a car going 200mph...even if it is just in an oval....WRC and LeMans top my list definitely though.

I love F1, it is the pinnacle of auto racing, exciting different countries ect.

Cart is just striaght up cool

Nascar....well its hillbillie racing, I know this may soung ignorant but thats what I call a bunch of southeners racing around an oval track in crusty push-rod V8's.

WRC BABY!!!!!!! That where its at man. When ever I watch a race I get excited but when ever I watch a WRC event with friends I am jumping out of my seat in amazment and in just plain aww the whole time the race is going on. I mean you have technologicaly advanced turbo cars hauling ass on mountain and forest roads under all conditions all over the world with drivers from ever country. And the fans!! Those people are crazy, jumping out in front of cars and standing on cliffs, also the scenery is amazing especially in MonteCarlo, Corsica, and Spain...looks a hell alot better than some circle track, filled with winebagos in the middle.;)

WRC all the way!!!!

By the way...Shamless Plug for my company...

Anyone with a PS2 should check out the WRC game for PS2. Its unbelievable the realism that is in that game. Playing it and watching the cut scenes and replays is just like watching it on SPEED VISION.

WRC is by far my favorite type...

WRC, American Le Mans Series, Any touring car series. I am almost never impressed with anything NASCAR has to offer. I think it's very staged and the money talks too much in their game. Not that other forms of motorsport(F1) don't have some of the same issues as well... While on a hot summer day it may be a bit grueling, I hesitate to say it takes a superior driver to drive a car in a circle for 500 miles, even if it is at 200mph. No I've never been a stock car driver and I don't knock you for being one, it just seems a bit to boring and monotonous(sp?) for me. A car was built with a steering wheel so you can turn it inh more than one direction.
I am also aware that NASCAR does have some road racing events but you'll notice that they really suck at driving those tracks. Although that means the race will be more exciting becuase they'll crash a lot!
F1 is cool because it's all high dollar stuff and the speeds are tremendous and they know how to turn the car in both directions. Yes, Shumacher wins A LOT but that is a testament to his amazing ability and desire to be the best. BTW he doesn't win every race!
WRC is fantastic becuase you have to have some major balls and skillz to drive like they do in the places they do.
ALMS because it's the biggest series that has cars that are closest to production like the GTS and GT classes.
Speed World Challenge because they have cars that are right of the dealers lot.
Also, I would like to throw in regional SCCA Road Racing as a big favorite to spectate. First, it's usually free. Second, they're all out there to have fun and the vibe is very positive. Third, You're never going to see a better variety of vehicles competing. I encourage you all to go to your local track and check it out. Also, NASA Pro Racing is also very good for the same reasons as SCCA but the have the US Touring Car Championship races which have some cool cars in it.
