Hello all. this is just a new sn. I've had an account before but my gmail got compromise and i forgot my pw to this account. I"m starting to fix my car again and now i'm having some problems. Please help in any way possible thanks in advance.

I had just relocated my MAF closer to the throttle body on the cold side pipe. Now i'm having all these problems. I'm having an extreme rough idle. It would idle form 100/almost stalling to 2000 rpm. When driving on the street it would hesitate really badly to the point where i had actually launched/ did a burn out in the middle of the street by accident due to the hesitation. When on the freeway it would be a split second hesitation then go. At higher speeds it is okay. But when i am coasting at 80mph it would lose acceleration and drop a couple of mph then all of a sudden spool and accelerate back up. So it would be similar to gas... off gass... then gas again. The main problem is when i am on the in roads at lower gears. I have already reset the ECU. I don't know what else to do. Please help. Thanks

Is there a vac/boost leak? is the MAF facing the right way. Do you have a check engine light if so what is the Code?

i do not believe there is a boost leak. no check engine light. and for the maf facing the right way. i just want to make sure if the screen is suppose to be towards the TB or facing away from the TB?

The screen is to stabilize the air flowing across the wires, which are the actual sensor part. Screen should be facing away from the TB. If it's backwards you'll have turbulent flow going across the sensor, which could screw things up seeing as it's pressurized air.

Unhook both the positive and negative battery cables and touch them together for about 30 seconds to a minute. Then Pump the brakes once or twice and hook the battery back up. That will reset your fuel trims, which is most likely your problem.

the screen should be on the front side of your car not the tb side if that makes any sense. also there is a arrow on the maf indicating what direction the airflow is supposed to travel through it iirc its on the right side right below the sensor plug.

i've gone out double checked the maf sensor. it is in the right direction with the screen away from the tb. double checked to make sure the arrow is pointed towards the tb. made sure everything is nice and tidy. reset the fuel trim as instructed. still same thing..... right now i disconnected the negative and will leave it off for about an hour just to make sure i reset everything. hope that works.....

Here is a picture of the relocated MAF. The white thing is a broom handle.. its a ghetto fix to plug up the hole and will be replaced shortly. =P

***update*** just reconnected the negative with no luck...

yes i looked inside when i took off the maf to check the screen direction and i saw the small filament.

sounds like a leak, make sure all your intercooler pipes are tight and the best way to make sure they are tight is hairspray all the intercooler connections. this will seal the pipes and also prevent them from coming off.. my buddy is running 32psi in his car(not an msp) and they used to pop off once in a while and we hairsprayed them all and they never come off now. and make sure the maf is good. it wouldnt hurt to maybe go buy a new one and see if that fixes it if not bring it back. lol

Actually, the dealer charges a restocking fee on electrical parts if they agree to take it back at all. I would look for a used one.

Well the easiest way to narrow down your problem would be to install a boost gauge and air/fuel wideband. I would bet you are running rich at idle and will eventually throw a CEL. I know I had that issue when first relocating my MAF, but after moving my vacuum block to the brake booster and resetting my fuel trims it runs fine.

right now we are currently in the middle of moving. i will reroute the pipes since we did an emergency repair on it since the stock pipes blew up. so i routed the pipes downward underneath the car. so i'll wait for that and work on it the right way. the car worked fine before. just minor hesitation. but now its horrible. so we'll have to see what will happen when i reroute everything. i do have a wideband and a boost gauge. the boost gauge is broken i think. and the wideband i disconnected it draining my battery. I'm gonna be working on the car for the next few weeks fixing all these problems. but for now i'm gonna wait for new pipes to come in. then start from there. but on a side note i did check all the piping to make sure everything is on nice and tight. i'll try to see what i can do about looking for a used maf sensor.
