Mine sure didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped and prepared but it's in there. Listen to Wagon, he has accurate knowledge when it comes to this DIY kit(ignoring the backwards MAF of course ). One thing I can say is that I REALLY wish I had a slim fan. I had to cut my rad bracket a bit shorter to gain a 1/2" clearance so my 2.5" piping would fit. Good Luck! Oh and btw if you can find a FMIC that mounts like Wagons, go with that. Mine has three pieces on top on the intercooler that are threaded for the bolts to mount it that way. You want the top of your intercooler to mount flush with the bottom of the crash bar or otherwise (depending on your core size) you will be forced to cut the bottom of your bumper. Wagons has 90* brackets so it mounted to the front of the crash bar if I am not mistaken and that is definitely preferred.
isnt the smic important for mounting the stock rad? i havent tried to take it out but i remember people saying that one of the rad mounts is on the smic and not the rad.
I bought a stock protege radiator made for a automatic protege. It had transmission cooler built in which i turned into a oil cooler. I was able to remove the stock SMIC but had to make my own brackets to hold radiator in place
Thats as far as I got. I don't think the FMIC will be even with the bumper so I may have toi just center it and run the piping through the CAI hole and move that fan over some. I hate this job though.
