i think imma set up my turbo to run 6 psi bo0st with only a vortech 12:1 fmu. you think thats good or bad?

Keola

I think without a high pressure fuel pump, you will blow up your motor...quickly... :-/

[edit]and holy POOP you have a long signature! :D

Not nessisarily. I have been running at 6 PSI as well as others without a problem for months. Will (WShade) has been running his setup for almos a year as his was the 1st BEGI Turbo Kit and not a problem. You are right about if there is not enough fuel for the application, then boom goes the motor! I will be getting the Pierburg from Corky after my exhuast upgrade.

6 psi? could be...but why skimp? fwiw, my Probe GT was able to sustain 5psi (t3super60) with the oem fuel pump, to the tune of about 190whp...by simply adding an inline pump, (250lph) and 3 more psi, the power jumped 50whp, with the same a/f (about 13.0:1)....I think most oem fuel pumps would probably be approaching their limits in that area.... Spend $100...get proper fuel. Either the pierburg unit, or a 255HD from walbro.

:)

I have a Pierburg inline unit:cool:

Nice car Darin..

The pump will just supply the right amount of fuel... But it won't stop the ECU from pulling the fuel back out... The stock pump will supply enough fuel for 8psi of boost (or so Corky and Bill have told me)... Now this isn't the case for ALL our cars because we all have them tuned differently and use different gas... I am running 8.5 psi, but on 101 gas and the FM clamp.. I think this is just enough to allow me to run that amnt of boost- but no more. I will probably back down to 7.5 until I get the larger injectors and microtech plug and play ecu..... We still aren't sure if the fuel pump will be needed, but might as well. Doing this will allow much more fuel in and will get rid of that pesky smart ECU!! :D

hmm...but 8psi on the turbo you use could bring disaster on a larger CFM unit, right?

Thus the importance of dyno and a/f tuning.
