Emergency TT install Help!!!

Hehehe, yeah the friggin A-B switch. In regards to the wire cutting process...I thought you just had to snip and insulate them...??? That's what it said in the last thread about this crap from what I remember. So you have to tap pin 6 into the orange thingy wire , eh? ooooook hope our master tech doesn't initiate the self destruct sequence when he tries this s***.

haha
ok, in order to lock the doors u have to just cut the blue/white wire at the keyless entry module.
BUT it wont make the alarm arm, just lock the doors.

now in order to lock doors and arm the alarm u have to do both things.

cut the pin 6 orange wire at the alarm brain 2 inches up (diagram on bottom of alarm) then take the alarm side of the wire (the side of the wire still connected to the alarm) and tap it into the thick black orange wire coming out of the alarm harness. Then tape up the car side of the orange wire.

then cut the blue/white wire on the keyless module.

P.S. hey commie, i recommend high mode #2 or #3. then u get about :55 to 1:20.
Ok ok ok ...just need to clarify. I thought that simply cutting and insulating both wires was sufficient as opposed to having to tap pin 6 into the thick black/orange. Second what is this high mode #2 or #3 stuff? timer settings? Me confused. Thanks for everything guys!

lol
you have to tap into the black/orange wire in order for the alarm to think that the car is off. u're simply tricking the alarm into thinking that the car is off when u take out the key. then the TT can do its job.

as for the settings....u have 3 modes to choose from:
1 - Manual mode - u preset the amount of time u want the car to run.
2 - Auto mode LOW - 3 settings - #1, #2, #3.
3 - Auto mode HIGH - 3 settings - #1, #2, #3.

it's in the manual, i think page 2.
basically these are all the different ways to calculate time.
mode LOW measures RPM and how long u've been in each K of RPM.
mode HIGH measure how long the car has been on + how long u've been in each K of RPM.

bleh.......dont know if that makes sense.

what is also cool is that if for example u just want to roll down your windows and u're in Manual mode, the TT will still count down wahtever time u preset.
BUT if you're in Auto mode, the TT will not count down and the ignition will turn off as soon as you turn the key.

LOW mode will give u less time........if you are driving on a highway for 30 min, then u exit and drive 10 min on the smaller streets without boosting much, by the time u reach home and turn off your car the TT will be almost at 0.

HIGH mode with the same scenario will give u anywhere between 30 seconds to 1:20 depending which setting you're in.

I would just leave it on 30 Seconds and if you were street racing or being an Asshat with the car, just let is sit for 30 seconds before taking the key out.

all i'm saying is that sometimes u dont want the TT to even turn on......like when u want to open or close your windows.

plus if u gonna sit there and wait then what's the point of a TT?

EXACTLY.

I just don't boost down my street. I live in a neighborhood with a 25mph zone. The turbo doesn't see any action for miles before I get home. Also by the time you turn off the radio, take off your shades, gather your crap for work, 30 seconds have gone by. REALLY no need for a TT.

After realizing that the original tutorial that was given to my tech instructs you to simply cut and insulate both wires...I jumped towards the phone to call down to service. As soon as he gets on the phone, he goes, "I just cut both wires and it's all set!! Coem down and get it!" I already feel like I heavily abuse my friendship with the Mazda Techs, as they do whatever I want to my car for little or free. But anyhoo, my car just has both wires cut now. So it works fine....so what is the disadvantage to not having the pin 6 tapped into the black/orange? Becaues I can't tell anything wrong about my setup....except that it has the potential to arm itself while I drive...but is that what is eliminated by tapping pin 6? This is soo funny. Everyone should get one of these.

Hmmmm...well Vic I'm gonna' need you to come out real quick and just look over the install. Come on I'll get you baked and buy you lunch...book a flight.

Cool, never thought of it like that. I have the APEX-I and when you turn off the key, (as you know) I just push down on the joystick. Never really gave it much thought because it's just so easy. I might play with it next summer. I have it set at min 30 sec, max 2 min and normal

yeah i have the apex also, and its cake to turn off if you dont want to use it

that's just one more movement.........the fuzzy logic is there for a reason :)
