I'd like to adjust some of the wiring for lighting purposes, and need to figure out what I can use for power in certain situations.

I'm adding LEDs to the Map Light Console, and need to tap power for them, only 12 while the lights are on. I'd like to mod the fogs to be used as DRLs, while freeing them from the High Beams, and allowing them to be used with the parking lights.

On my last car, I rewired the front lights to work a certain way, and need to adjust the 5.

Thanks

Get a multimeter and go to YouTube to learn how to use it. Very handy for a lot of things.

Look into the how-to section for rewiring fogs to work with parking lights. There are two ways to do it. Building a separate plug and play module (effort to build but easily removable) or cutting and tapping the fog relay trigger to the parking light -the easy lazy man's way of doing it.

I have a multimeter, and I have already printed out the two ways of running Fogs with the Parking lights.

I like to build my own thing, usually with Diodes, and give lights multiple purposes.

Is there a Wiring Diagram available for the 5? So I can trace back certain elements.

My first project on the 5 is putting LEDs in the console over the shift knob, to provide some illumination on the knob and cupholder. I'll take some pics, and write up a how-to when I finish it up.

Thanks!

flcruising, essentially what you did in both of those is trip the relay, meaning the Fog switch on the stalk is what controls the lights from being on/off while the car is on? Thanks for responding btw!

Yes, I simply changed the power source for the fog relay. As DRL's they turn ON only when the key and the fog switch on the stalk are ON simultaneously. They turn OFF with the key and the high beam headlights regardless of fog switch position.

cool thanks, I had printed out your other threads before I posted this one. Provided that the Wife still wants DRLs, I will play with those wires. Granted, she just reported that one of her HIDs were flickering, so I may to relay them.

Has anyone seen a Wiring Diagram of the 5's Electrical system?
