As part of emissions tests in some states, two wheels either front or rear are driven at speed on rollers. Is there any ill effect from this on the drive system of the AWD CX-5?
When they first put in the 'roller test', I had a sports car with awd and limited slip differential, and the inspector put it on the rollers and my car almost drove off them and then stalled. He was like "Oh, is this awd?" and I said yes so the roller test was skipped. Since then my state has gotten rid of all those tests and all they check is the computer and emissions.
I think next year I have to start getting emission tests. Thanks for the info in this thread. Have never had to get tested before as prior to the CX-5, I lived in a rural mountain town.
