I am getting a B&M Short throw Shifter, and just a few questions.

1) Do I have to get the Kartboy Brushings? I see most people who have this have the brushings as well.

2) If not, what is the advantge of having them?

I am not really familiar with cars, so I am going to have it installed by a local shop, how much should I be prepared to pay?

Thanks for the help guys.

1. no you do NOT HAVE to have them.......I don't, but a lot of guys do....and they love them.

2. it makes the entire assymbly more ridgid....making shifting just that much more precise.

When I put the B&M in mine, it was really a little TOO precise - Notchier than I liked.

Now that it's been in there for 10K or so, it's PERFECT. The OEM bushings have just the correct amount of "play" to make the shift "natural."

If I were you, I'd install the B&M as it comes and wait a spell to see if you think it NEEDS tightening up any more - I'll bet after you've driven it some, you won't want to change a thing.

I had my b&m in for about 3-4k miles and when I put the bushings in it felt alot better. not saying that with out them it felt bad but it just felt smoother and more controled with them.
