crazy brake caliper/tire/possible wheel bearing

So I just got back from a long trip, stopped at a friend's work went and grabbed some grub. When we got back, my rear driver side wheel was flat. So I jacked it up and this is what I found

So I was like o s***. I thought the rear caliper locked up. It spun but would get hard to turn, then get easier. went to a friend's, got a rear caliper he had put it and a spare on and I drove home.

now on my way home, everything was fine. But I started thinking. When has a caliper ever locked up enough to drag a tire till that happens? Nd more importantly, why would I not have heard it? I had smelt ceramic earlier while coming down a grade, but thought it was the truck in front of me.

So my thoughts went to possible rear wheel bearing failure. Me and my bro spun the wheel while off the ground and it spun Ok. Didn't catch or anything.

So I need some help from anyone that can help me determine what would cause this.

There was no abnormal wear on the tires when I started my trip. And I'm not running crazy camber or outta wack toe. The tires are the ones that came with the wheels, nankangs Whatever's. Idk mileage one them either. Any help would be great.

I'd say the tread separated from the secondary rubber...

I would go with your brother and him ^^^^^. Just curious When was the last time you had alignment?

You just made that trip from Philly to SC. What was your average speed? That's where your tire could have failed. being spun so fast for so long n it being maybe older or the speed rating not being able to handle it.

And Nankangs are horrible tires.

It would have to drag for awhile for that to have happened. And if you don't notice a tire locking up something's wrong with the driver. It looks almost like somebody cut it or something to me, even if it did seperate from the secondary rubber why is it so worn down in that area?If I were you I'd just be glad it didn't blow out on your trip

Yeah I agree. I've heard these tires have a to. Issues. Should be getting some kdw2s by the end of today

This isn't that uncommon to see. It's simply from riding on it after the tread was dettached.

That's what I'm saying but whatever. Got a set of Yokohama sdrives on the way. Will be here on Wednesday.

i say its the rear ebrake cabel it happend to me the week i changed to five lug but it was during the winter and u will deff see a drag while ur driveing and the car seems slow
