I want to replace the spark plugs on our 2014 Mazda CX-5 AWD Touring. I believe NGK 94124 ILKAR7L11 is recommended. Can someone let me know the correct type?

I also see there is laser iridium and laser iridium ix.

Appreciate the help, thanks!

O'reilly's has this one as the OEM replacement

NGK Iridium/Platinum Plug Number ILKAR7L11 Spark Plug - 94124

Part # 94124 Line: NGK
Fits Mazda CX-5

Spark Plug ILKAR7L11; Iridium; Gap: 0.044; Actual OE Manufacturer; 75000 Mile OE Manufacturer Recommended Service Interval

They are cheaper on Amazon, but reading reviews on a lot of them makes me wonder if they are genuine, sometimes people apparently return bogus goods to the retailer which might then be resold. Other auto parts stores should stock them *(Autozone, etc)

Thank you for the reply. I got some plugs at Amazon and am pretty worried after reading your post. Checking tonight with video / NGK contact.

Excellent video…
Disappointing how crooked people are in that whole counterfeit supply chain. Making fakes, sourcing and selling for same price as legit plugs.

I’m surprised how different the Denso spark plug performance was vs the NGKs. Notice even supposed “better” ones with the twin tips aligned sometimes had the spark jumping to the metal portion instead of the opposing iridium piece? I used the Denso TTs on my old ‘13 and didn’t have any perceivable issues but that was weird to see in this video. I wouldn’t consider them again in the future if those were legit in the video.

About time to get some NGKs for my CX-5. I’ll go RockAuto if I have other stuff to bundle with, or local O’Reilly. It’s going to be a sad day if we see fakes getting shipped from RockAuto.

On my own 2016.5 CX-5 GT, I originally had the NGK #94124 Iridium plugs. Worked just fine, until I had to track down a P0300 Random Misfire problem last year. Ended up swapping the coils and the plugs to new ones.

Last year, I replaced the old plugs with the NGK #92274 Ruthenium HX plugs. Good performance at all times, including when going WOT. Uncertain if I can tell the difference in performance compared to the prior plugs, but these are great. Got them at RockAuto, online.

Both were spec for the 2016 2.5L.
