correct lube for locks and hinges

as part of factory recommended service 5k / 7.5k miles locks/hinges ought to be inspected and lubed. What's the best option here, as DIY? I checked and found white grease inside the lock covers, etc. Wondering if I ought to go with white lithium then?

I use easy-to-use CRC White Lithium Grease spray can.
