Constant velocity vibration

Anyone experiencing a "rolling" reverberation or low vibration at a constant speed (85-120 km/hr)? Its like you are driving over very fine speed bumps every second and a half. It seems to disapear when I clutch in but I am getting new rims put on this week and should be able to rule out any tire imballance issues. If it's not the tires, it's probably not going to be an easy fix.
I took 2 other Speed 6s for a test drive and did not get the vibration.

I'm getting something similar... but it only occurs at 70-75mph. Thinking its the balance on the tires.

Also, something that I thought about. My car was on the lot, unmoved for quite some time. Could be tires. Who knows. I am going to wait til I hit 500 miles before I take it to the dealership.

I have that issue, and the grit on the paint job that I will be addressing.

vibes

Doubt if it's flat spots on the tires. Even if it's been sitting the better part of a couple of months the flat spots should get plied out after the first good long run, but you never know.
I've got about 2000kms on mine now and the noise is getting worse if anything.

I experience this vibration everytime I go over 70 mph also. I just think it's the balancing of the tires.

Yep, did my first long trip in the car this weekend and noticed the same thing along the way. However, I didn't notice it at all yesterday when I was coming back.

Did you ever get an answer on this? I replaced my wheels/tires and still get this. Its definately coming from something else. I can see my rear wheels from my mirrors, and I notice a sort of wobble. I didn't check that when I had the stock wheels on. I know that these wheels are not bent. Could it be the whole rotor hub that is out of wack?

I notice the vibration alot less with these new wheels/tires, but its still there. Happens most when I am accelerating, or in gear. If I put it in neutral, at any speeds, vibration goes away. Duh... so that would eliminate the hub thing. Just thinking here... maybe its the transmission? Clutch? hmm....

Gonna take it back in soon, cause I also have the traction control warning light stuck on.

Yes... thats probably the case, although trying to figure out why and where this is occurring, is what I'm trying to figure out.

Obviously it puzzled the service department because they immediately went to the mount on the rear differential saying that it could be torn. Well, that wasn't the case, and they could not find anything, and sent me on my way. I don't think they thought of the transmission, because I didn't mention that it only happens while in gear. Just isolated that the other day.

I need everyone to throw out some ideas, so I can tell the mechanic to check it on Monday.

Not alignment

Got the alignment done today as the dealer said it shouldn't be a wheel balance problem. Noise/feel still there so I will wait till I mount my winters and see if that does it. I get the feeling it's in the driveline though. It could be a shft runout issue. The dealer mechanics don't seem to interested.

One thing though, the alignment seemed to help reduce straight line wander.

I don;t have this problem ut I am thinking of taking the car to get the alignment checked. I notice my rear wheels are at a mich different camber angle (top to bottom), than the front. Is that normal? I'd estimate is at at least -2degrees, it's pretty noticeable compared to the front camber.

camber

Noticed the same thing after the alignment. Not used to seeing the rears with that much camber but it is spec. Have to watch the wear.

See my reply at end of thread (#12). Let me know how you make out.

Well... they did nothing for the vibration. The sensor was replaced so the TCS light is off. Sirus is still not working. What a bunch of useless fucksticks!

Anyway, the vibration is still there, albeit not as bad. Dunno if it's me just getting used to it. Front tires are cupping on the outside of the tread. Gonna rotate the tires when I get a oil change next week, we'll see how that feels. I want to think that it's just the tires. Maybe with the car sitting in the same spot, the tires are not true (round). Dunno.

Btw... never gonna take the car to that dealership again. I still have to call sirius, and tell them wtf. Have a feeling its a bad receiver, but the idiots at mazda didn't bother to test that.

**** em all.

Too bad about your dealer. Mine seems to be genuinely committed to finding out what's going on (what they say), but I'm not too confident in their Speed 6 technical expertice.
I too think it could be tires out of round as I had Goodyear ATSs once that would balance up fine but do really weird things. Ended up that 3 of the 4 were out of round since manufacture.
Still convinced that the howl is the rear diff though.
It's the first Mazda I was reluctant (had a few) to buy and the first one I've had issues with.
I'll check back when I do my tires.

any update on this? I'm still getting the vibration. Coming up on 3k miles, gonna take it in for the oil change, and have them rotate the tires. Gonna bring up the fact that my front tires are cupping on the outside, and to figure out why. That is what the vibration is causing... cupping.
