wiht the components.. should i put the tweeters in the sails or in the actual door panel? will it make a huge difference? also.. what does everyone think about putting the crossover in that pocket in the door? ghetto or nice? should i hide them somewhere?

As close to the other speaker as possible will give you the best sound, plus your tweet will be on the down-low for thievery reasons.
I almost put my x-overs in the door-pockets too(per Mitch's instructions), but I was a little worried that they'd get thrashed or wet, so I hid them behind the door panels....well actually, the install guy hid them behind the door panels.

No problems ever!

It's up to you man, hook them up and move them around using some double sided tape to see where you like them best. I placed mine on the sail panels, but putting them flush into the door panels isn't that difficult either.

I think if you could fiberglass custom sails that would be ideal, then you could have them pointed directly at you instead of somewhat at you. I've seen it done, but haven't had time to do it myself.

Which model of Diamond audio? Let us know how your installation goes please. I'm looking to get a set of M661 for my Mazdaspeed but am worried about how to install it and all. That huge crossover could be an issue.

Let us know how it sounds too.

i installed mine in the door panel. just took a dremel and some patience. just be really careful not to cut too far... that would be hack

the crossover fit in the door.. i mounted the tweeter external on the sail plain with the mounting cup.. because they were too deep to mount in the sail.. and i didnt want to cut my door.. it looks decent.. sounds much better than my pioneer 3 ways. -=)

ok.. so components are in.. the jbl80.4 is flaoting around the back of my car.. im not going to mount it until i get everything in..
im ditching the audiobahn eq and putting some gauges there because the eq on my deck is easier to use.
ive also changed my idea for subs.. Again.. i know..im a looser.
now im going with 1 jl 12w6v2 and a jbl 1200.1 to run it.. becuase if i run the jbl at 4 ohm its only 600 watts.. is that too much power for the speaker? im also havinga box built to jbl specs.
my questions now is.. should i also put componenets in the rear doors or will my 3 ways work just fine?
questions? suggestions? pics will come once its all done.. i dont want people to see what my car looks like all torn apart.

How do you find the SQ of the Diamond Audio S600 (s or a)?
Did you play around with tweeter placement to find the best place? What DB setting on the cross-over too?
Re: mid-driver installation, anything aditional I need to get beside some drilling and cutting?

put regular speakers in the back and not components unless you're doing a show car. They are in a bad location and aren't audiable to the front passengers over your components.

the diamond audio components are awesome.. they sound sooooooo much more clear than my 3way pioneers i used to have in the front. i mounted the tweeters EXTERNALLY in the cups on the sails facing down just a little.. when i had them facing up it seemed just a little harsh for me.. i have my crossovers in the doors and i am still playing with the settings on it.. im not going to finalize anything until i get my sub in and i can set up the over all sound. once that is said and done i will post everything along with pics.. i know mounted the tweets external doesnt look as cool as flushmounting them but we coudlnt get them to fit in where i wanted them and the cups blend in very well.
we had to make boards to mount the midbass speakers in but other than that it was easy. -=)

My friend jason is an installer at Tweeter, and he did my current sound setup for me. He recommended that the speakers be put in the sails, and I have to say that they sound incredible. I think his forum name is ZOOMNP5, or something like that. Do a member search and I know he or PDHAudio can answer any questions you have.

So the wires from the HU going to the crossover are stock? Wondering if they really should be replaced with some quality lower guage onces.

i hoenstly dont think that changing the wires would matter.. and i hate running wire thrut he doors. -=\ and im lazy. -=) LoL.. once i get them amp wires run.. well see.. but im thinking about just running them to where the headunit is and splicing them there..

I put my tweets in the door, about 4" above the stock grill. I played around with the tweets before I decided where to mount them (door off, just moving tweet around to where it sounded best.) Imaging was better when the tweet was in the sail, but the sound was too off axis for my taste (notes were coming from diff directions.) The location I chose was the best compromise between sound imaging and point-source (any lower on tweet made sound like music was coming to much from your feet.)

The easiest and cleanest way to flush mount in your door is to use a hole saw. Just buy the right bit for your drill and you can make a perfect hole in ~10 secs. The saw is around ~$10. Not really cheap, but if you've spent $1000 on you sys, spend the bit extra to ake sure it goes together right and looks good.
