Clutch chatter - replacement

2002 Protege ES
So, my 2002 ES has clutch chatter. In fact it's always had it since I bought the car 4 years ago. I feel it's getting worse recently and I'm seriously considering replacing the clutch to alleviate the problem.

I need to know whether Mazda has a newer OEM clutch kit that doesn't have the issue, or if I should go with an aftermarket replacement. My car is near stock so I have no need of a heavy-duty clutch. It looks like an Exedy stock replacement can be had on ebay for around $100 but that's all the research I've had time to do so far.

Anyway - if there's an OEM option it would be nice to have a part number. I'd be willing to use Exedy, ACT, Spec, whatever, but I wanted to know if there's a community consensus as to which is best to get rid of this awful clutch chatter. So tired of the car shuddering...

i used a dxd southbend clutch. and though it has not been installed, i have only heard good things about it from other members. i got a stage 1 clutch for 175 shipped which is a great price.

check protegefaq.net, you should see a TSB with some info about protege clutch chatter, revised parts:
FS06-16-460 Clutch Disc 1 2.0L
FS01-11-500A Flywheel 1 2.0L
FS05-16-410A Clutch Cover 1 2.0L

mazdaspeed protege clutch is also an option:
LF03-16-460 clutch disc
LF02-16-410 pressure plate
G561-16-510B release bearing (also used in FC RX-7)

i just got the exedy oem replacement, KMZ08, from protege garage. it has yet to arrive but i'll let you know my impressions after install. also available from exedy for the MSP is their Stage 1 clutch, 10807, which many say still retains much of the OEM feel and performance yet is a bit more heavier duty.

there are many forum members asking about the Luk clutch kit that local shops may offer. it is a German brand that offers an OEM kit as well as an upgraded MSP kit. i've heard good things about Luk. hope this helps.
