Has anyone experienced this clicking/ticking sound during a slow full left or right turn. I was maneuvering at a smooth parking lot when I noticed this sound. No steering fluid leaks around the steering assembly and pump/hoses. At normal speeds and making turns on intersections, no clicking/ticking is heard. I have about 75,000 miles on her. Any suggestions/recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

check CV joints boots for tears/leaks. Your joints may have lost all the grease and are bad. Look for sprays of grease from the boots.

I did an initial look around the CV boots when I was checking the steering assembly and did not see any tear or signs of grease leaking out. I will take another look at different steering positions today. It is possible that water could have penetrated the CV's as I drove over approx. 6 inches of standing water for about 1/4 mile a couple of years ago. I did try to slide the CV shaft from both directions and noticed a slight play. I don't know if this normal.

Jack up the front end Use jack stands or a hoist and hand rotate wheels for and aft. left and right. This should tell where the excessive play is. Cv's are the most likly culprit. Rotate each wheel around forward and back with Transmision in drive, and clunk? I have even had this problem turn out to be loose lug nuts, customer almost lost awheel!!!!

When you slide the shaft from both ends, the knuckle joint, CV should be rock solid. Ie shaft should be tight from hub to transmission.
