THis is the second time my CEL has just popped on and in a totaly unexpected way. Both time I was driving very easily on the car and had been maintianing the speed limit and not using boost at all. Then it just comes on. The last time it turned out it was an O2 sensor not functioning code and a battery not charging code. I haven't gotten to a dealer yet to find out which it is this time.

The battery not charging code I wasn't worried about since if the car sees a higher then expected voltage it throws that code. My alternator can charge at over 15 volts so I assume it just had the battery over the ECUs standard range, especialy since the battery is 12.6-12.8 volts at rest everytime I check it.

I checked the O2 voltage clamp and all the connections look good and check out as does the boost signal.

Is there any way to tell which code it has thrown and if there are several which one is cuasing the light with out going to a dealer?

you have any autozones near by? down here in the south they do obdII scans for free. And tell ya whats up.

Thanks for the autozone advice!

Good old P0134 was the code, no front 02 sensor activity.

Yeah i had remembered hearing about it on the radio and tv, and I was going to pay a mechanic to pull my womans code in her 01 s10 after i had put on several mods, including an intake.then my mom reminded me that AZ did it free, I was like hell yea! I was thinking it was the MAS, from the intake, and it ended up being a freakin 160 thermostat that I had put in it. It was used to seeing like 180-190 degrees and it dropped to 160 and it threw the code, so i bumped the temp on the electric fan like 2 degrees and a few days later it went away. But yea that kicks ass that autozone started doing it for free. Hell it means more money for them in the end cause they can tell people what it is and they can buy the parts.
