Check Engine Light Keeps going on

Hi everyone!

This is my first post. I have a 2009 5 that I purchased in Oct. Last month my check engine light came on. Took it to the dealer, they replaced the gas cap. A little more than 2 weeks later the light comes on again. I took it in yesterday and they said it was the gas cap again and replaced it. The guy then tried to explain to me how to use the gas cap. I was insulted to say the least. Has anyone else had a similar problem? I do not think it is the gas cap, but maybe a part further down towards the gas tank. It took 2 1/2 weeks for the light to come on a second time. We will see if it is up to #3 or not.

Thanks for any suggestions or feedback!

???

but if you in the us and it does happen again.....bring up the lemon law cause if they can't fix it a 3rd time well they'll have to take it back or replace it

that might light a fire under their ass and get them movin to fix it right

Sounds like its a suspected EVAP code and the tech that's been looking at it is either lazy or does not understand how to check the system.

and so does the Mazda 5 I have found that the canister has a slight crack in it causing it to take awhile to come on. if they would do a smoke test i bet they would find it.I am a mazda tech and so far I have seen about 8 or so come through with that problem.

you got it...this is why the pressure does not build up in the tank...simulated an open gas cap. We pressurize the tank to reduce fumes which is bad for environment.
