CARB legal turbos and stuff?

Hello, my first post, new here, sup?

Anyways, I live in San Francisco right now and i'll move down to Riverside by the end of Sept for college. I was wondering if there's any CARB legal stuff out there for mazdaspeed, espeically that spool turbo.

I didnt get the car yet but i'm researching which cars has more potential and aftermarket support, i was gonna get the Spec V. I mean that car looked damn good on paper, and it's cheaper, but in the end, it's a faulty car and the engine is just a b**** to work with. That's why i'm gonna get the mazdaspeed. Anyways, please list any CARB legal mods u guys know of. THANKS! :D

what is CARB?

California Air Research Board (CARB) gathers air quality data for the state of California, ensures the quality of this data, designs and implements air models, and sets ambient air quality standards for the state. ARB compiles the state's emissions inventory and performs air quality and emissions inventory special studies.

Good ole Google :D

There is pretty much nothing available aside from the Injen CAI that is CARB certified for the Protege Sedan/MSP. The JIC exhuats isn't CARB certified either. Don't worry about the police popping your hood man. I have yet to get mine popped while cruising the street up here in San Jose. Just don't attract too much attention to yourself and you'll be fine.

CARB isnt so much for the cops, but so much for the DMV inspector at the inspection line! gotta have passing emission you know, and getting rid of the cats ain't the way to pass in jersey!

When are you suppose to get your car inspected for DMV? It seems I never done it, done it once on my old car, and that' about it...

well they just changed it from every year, to every two years, to every four years...so i guess im clear now :D oh well, what happens in four years though? reinstall all the factory stuff, assuming you kept it?

The CARB issue isn't really as bad as everyone on the forum makes it out to be. I have yet to run into any problems as well as a lot of my friends who have heavily modified Civic's and WRX's. bad thing is that the new rumor is about smog testing. I don't when it is going to be put into play, but the rumor that I have heard is that smog testing done by a state ref will be performed on a dyno of some sort because they know that the engine performs different under load. Right now, they just have you rev the engine with the sniffer in the tail pipe and they hold the rev at a certain RPM with the sniffer in. Either way though, there really is nothing to worry about. If you're worried about getting popped for emissions and CARB stuff just don't modify your vehicle.
