Car Got Broken Into Last Night!!!

:
2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege
So as the title says, my Speed got broken into last night. It was at the dealership getting a couple things looked at, I had dropped it off yesterday. Well when I woke up this morning I had some missed calls from the dealer. Well check my voicemail and get the message that while it sat there over night someone broke the back window, gained entry into the vehicle, tore apart the dash, and pulled the radio out. God this sucks, the car is about 3 weeks old and already stuff is getting fixed and replaced. I was so pissed when I called the dealership. Atleast I don't have to pay for anything, the dealership is taking care of and replacing everything, and so help me god if this car doesn't look perfect when I pick it up I am going to serioulsy b**** someone out.

Gee - sorry to hear that happen. Whenever I take my car in and it has to sit overnight, I make sure it's parked inside...otherwise no service will be done.

I'm very anal where I park it...or where the dealership even parks it within their lot when getting serviced.

Sorry to hear that...but at least the dealership is taking responsibility for this and you don't have to claim it through your insurance.

I dropped my car off for service this morning, and while talking to the Service Mgr., he told me that an Orange MSP they just got in had been vandalized the night they got it....dented up the whole side. They fixed it and it doesn't look like anything happened to it. He also said, that if my car ever has to stay overnight, it will be parked inside...so that reassures me that my dealership is looking out for me.

Hope everything comes out ok.
Good luck,
Jesse

People need to be b**** Slaped for touching other peoples property. Sorry to hear about that.

From what the police told me is that it didn't take much for them to get the radio all out of the car, I guess the dash just kinda pops apart. I can't stress this enough to all you Speed owners, remove the face of your radio on a regular basis, and flip the switch on your trunk that makes it so it can be only opened with the key.

That sucks. I can't believe it got robbed at the dealer??? Damn, don't they lock customer cars down inside a fence or anything??? No security? I'd be really pissed about that.

Hope it gets fixed properly and your Zoomin again soon

and by law, that MSP must be sold USED. i wonder how much they got outta it!

the only way to get in the trunk on my MP3 is the key. seats are locked, so is driver side trunk opener. trust no one.

lol, i was talking about the other car that OrangeAppeal was talking about (vandalized the side panels...)

well it couldn have happened at a better place . LOL

Yeah that was kinda the view of a couple people i talked to. Atleast mazda is just replacing everything and not trying to like bend and fix plastic and what not. Not to mention they have to fix it to my satisfaction, if it's not then they have to keep fixing until i'm happy because it's there asses if they don't

Well, LEGALLY I would agree...but reality, probably not....it's just the same as a car getting damaged during shipping, and they replace the damaged part at dealers expense...do you really think they are gonna sell that as a used vehicle? Besides, if it's not documented anywhere (no police report or insurnace claim) then where is the proof anything was replaced.

BTW, the car is still sitting in their showroom.

This makes sense to me, i mean the car is built by mazda, and then parts that were damaged are replaced by mazda, i'm sure they get away with calling the car new unless it was damaged beyond repair or is considered salvaged, in which case i'm sure they just ship it back to mazda.

I went out to my usual Thursday night hangout. Parked in downtown Lexington, KY. I was crusing around with all the windows down on the way there. When I parked, I left the rear windows down all the way by mistake. When I walked out to my car @ 1:45am, i noticed the windows. I was pissed. Thought someone busted it up.

To my surprise, not a damn thing was touch. CD case sitting on the rear seat, backpack sitting on the read seat, V1 on the dash. Nothing. I was surprised. Last time I forget to check the rear windows.

About the MSP that was damaged at the dealership. The car does have to be sold as a used car, although damage wasnt enough to sell as salvaged...in which case a autherized dealership cannot sell cars/trucks/vans/whatevers unless they have a clean title.

A good friend of mine bought a car from a dealership about an hour away, we got home and for s**** and giggles car faxed it. Well turns out it had a slavaged title, and he told the dealership(hoping to get them to lower the price he bought it for) and they actually had to take it back and resend the deal. They ended up selling it at auction, and he bought another car.

Anyways, as far as a paper work trail on that car. You better believe there is one, not with insurance, or police but with Mazda and the dealership. Anytime you buy a car always ask if it has had any sort of damage done to it, and tell them you want all paper work envovled with that car. You have a right to see ALL papers except for thier actual purchase papers from the manfacturer. In this case you would be able to see that infact the car door had to be replaced, and it was damaged, cause it will have papers with an order to get it replaced than fixed.

Also, a lot of the times if a car is damamged to that extent on shipping(replacing a door is some fair amount of damage) they will send the car back. A friend of mine worked at a dealership(Lithia if anyone is familiar with em) and he was in the recieving department I guess you could say. He dealt with this sorta thing...they send cars back if they get them damaged beyond a simple fix.

So yea, that MSP has to be sold as used now, the only time I can see all this not applying is on electonics...radio and such.

EDIT:Actually I think the car would be sold as "Damaged" and it would have a listing of what was damaged on it. In turn they would just drop the price on it. I was gonna buy an 01 Civic LX and I found out the sliding roof had to be replaced, they actually dropped 500 bucks off the total of the car..I didnt get the car anyways in the end, but still...they dropped the price.

I doubt the dealership would go to the extent of showing you any paper work. They'd blow you off, and try and sell to another buyer first.

Even if you were to find out afterwords, they'd say something like "oh...ya that Sales guy doesn't work here anymore" - load of crap.

That was my opinion of the situation but I guess my car wasn't the only one broken into, a VW jetta got the radio taken out of it also. And yes I plan to make sure that car looks perfect, and that there isn't one scratch in the interior anywhere, bascially it better look like it just rolled off the truck and was in the show room or I'll refuse it till they get it right!!!
