I'm not a country fan, but this got my attention. I am urging you to be patriotic and boycott the dixie chicks! Here is the story, right from yahoo:

DALLAS - Natalie Maines (news), lead singer of the Dixie Chicks (news - web sites), is finding out that sometimes saying you're sorry doesn't make much of a difference.


Radio stations nationwide are boycotting the Dixie Chicks, even though Maines publicly apologized for telling a London audience last Monday: "Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas."


Maines is a Lubbock native.


In her apology Friday, Maines said: "As a concerned American citizen, I apologize to President Bush (news - web sites) because my remark was disrespectful. I feel that whoever holds that office should be treated with the utmost respect."


The words didn't carry much weight with listeners in Maines' home state and elsewhere.


"We've had a huge listener reaction and movement against the statements," said Paul Williams (news) of KPLX-FM in Dallas-Fort Worth, the nation's fifth largest radio market.


In Kansas City, Mo., WDAF-AM set trash cans outside its offices for listeners to toss their Dixie Chicks CDs. Its Web site displayed more than 800 listener e-mails, most of them in support of the station's boycott.


After more than 250 listeners called Friday to complain about Maines' comments, WTDR-FM in Talladega, Ala., dropped the Dixie Chicks.


"The emotion of the callers telling us about their fathers and sons and brothers who are overseas now and who fought in previous wars was very specific," said Jim Jacobs, president of Jacobs Broadcast Group, which includes WTDR.


The Dixie Chicks are in Europe promoting their recent release "Home," which won a Grammy last month for Best Country Album. The group is scheduled to kick off the U.S. leg of its "Top of the World Tour" on May 1 in Greenville, S.C.

Here's my opinion on what she said. I do not look at singers or actors or pro atheletes as real people. I look at them as property of the American people. Most of the are so stupid that they don't deserve any legitamite respect anyway. This case applies. She truly thinks that she has a valid opinion and she should voice her opinion to the american public because she thinks she has so many fans that will listen to her. bulls***! There are VERY FEW celebraties that I look at as having intelligence. Most of them are so secluded away from public that they are completely ignorant to the fact that they are stupid. I don't pay any attention to what ANY celebrity has to say about politics at all. They are all ignorant puppets that are just entertainment for all of us, and that's where they should stay. They are basicallly on the same level as a pet to me, they are there for my entertainment and that's it.

See, people like him I respect. He doesn't just stand on a red carpet in Hollywood spouting off at the mouth about his opinions, he actually does something about it. And by doing something about it I don't mean flying in your private jet to Washington to speak at an Anit-American hate rally. He actually goes all over the world helping people. The comment that she made just proves her lack of intelligence. Anyone with any sense would have made a public ramark like that. There is something else that irks me. I REALY hate it when these people are called "artists". They are NOT artists. These people are singers that sing popular music. They are DEFINETELY NOT what I would consider an artist. I would consider an artist someone who writes clasical music and such. That is an art. These people are simply performers and singers, and nothing more. I respect and admire people that invented things and contributed to society myself. And these perofrmers and singers are just my entertainment. They are like the little dancing monkey that you throw money at.

People say and do stupid s***. It happens. I can guarantee you've said or done something to someone that wasn't the brightest thing in the world.

This is just stupid. I would boycott the radio stations that are boycotting them. I think their form of censorship is bulls***. If you don't want to listen to the music, be adult enough to change the channel. If you can handle the fact that nobody in this world is perfect and be an adult, do what you like.

I never said that I would boycott them. I too think that is stupid. I pay no attention to their comments because they are not valid to me. But there are a few that I will think twice about before seeing a movie that they make.

I agree also. You have the right to boycott them. I won't boycott them though for that. Although I don't really listen to them. I've heard their music, it's pretty good, but I don't listen to country that much. I'm mainly into alternative and rock. The only people I choose to boycott is people like Martin Sheen. I believe he thinks he could do a better job of being president just because he plays one on tv. This is the warped view of actors that I hate. Have any of you seen that commercial with all the actors bashing the war? The one where Susan Sarandon says "What did Iraq do to us?". I wish she would just keep her cock garage shut. She shouldn't open her mouth for anything except for giving head.

Where were all people when we bombed Serbia. where were all these Hollywood people when we did that?? no where. they sat home b/c it was "their" President that was doing the bombing.
