Hey all....
This weekend I am going to start building to two sealed enclosures for my 2 12" Audiobahn Flame Q subs....The finished product should look something like this....

Sorry about the pic..I whipped it up in 2 seconds on paint..
Does anyone here have some experience with box building? Can you give me some pointers so that my sealed boxes will come out as best as they can?

Also, when I got my MP3, the sub and the amp were gone...but the wires still remain in the trunk..Could I use the existing wires to power the amp I will get to run the subs? Should I upgrade to beefier wires? What wiring kit would you suggest? I was thinking like 4g wire...a fuse and fuse holder...then some sort of distro block..use 8g wire out of the distro..that good?

What amps were you running?

You'll need atleast 4 guage power and ground cable!

Everything from the original wires other then the remote wire should be replaced. The RCAs can be reused but I'd chuck them.

Under the floor mat you should have 2 large bolt holes. I'd suggest reusing them to secure everything in place.

As for building boxes. only use 3/4" MDF or thicker for those subs if your going to run serious amps. Use screws brad nails. Routers are mans best friend when it comes to making mounting holes.
Don't use terminal cups. run the wires right out of the box throuhg a very small hole sealed with a ton of cualk.

I can image an amp capable of poweriong those subs only taking an 8 guage wire. Althouhg I suppose it is possible.

Just remember you can only use an 80 amp fuse with that fuse holder. They don't make them any larger.

The sub mounting holes go throught he wood just the same. The final look is a cosmetic choice only. Either just put the front of the sub up to the mouning hole then shoot the screws through the wood from outside the box going from the back of the sub.

The other choice is to mount the sub to the double thick baffle then build the box and plan on using a removable plexiglass window. on the back of each box.

I would use Monster Cable instead of Street Wires. For interconnects (RCAs) I would recommend either XLN Pro or Micro XLN by Monster. I am using the XLN Pro, proven to be the quietest cable in the market. BTW don't forget to change your battery terminals. Check out the slimline battery terminals from them as well.
