Bought msp today

:
2001 Mazda Protege MP3
Went and picked up an msp today that was for sale locally. It does need a nee crank seal, its leaking oil pretty good. Its only got 77k on it. Awr (i believe) front and rear mounts and the side ones look new too. Has a thunder manifold with a t3/t4 hooked up to it with an external wastegate, 3in exhaust not sure on brand. Fmic with hard piping and a diy intake. Car seems to run fine most of the time. If I floor it and hit the clutch, it will die? Need to look into that a little. It also doesnt put me back like I thought it would so I wanna pull off the turbo and look at it. Bought it for 5k, hope its not a mistake. Will post pics later :)

Post some pics of the outside. Nice car looks like sunlight silver (looks white but it must be silver), needs to have a pipe welded onto the DP for the EWG. I bet the MAF is on the intake, if you relocate it before the TB about 6-12" and after the BOV it will run like it should. What is on the car to tune it?

Nothing is on the car to tune it, I thought about returning it to stock cause I bought it to flip it for more but we'll see :) I have a buddy selling a full msp kit for 600 and guessed I can probably get that much out of the aftermarket stuff. If I looked right, the maf is indeed right on the intake. Not sure where the bov is yet, I'll look tomorrow. I didnt recognize the brand on the turbo either, i'll check it and post it soon as well. It just feels gutless for being what it is and I think its running rich. I'll be learning lots about it over the next little while and am pretty stoked

as it should @ 14 psi. that engine bay doesn't look like it was planned or executed well, so the fact that it does not run strong should not be surprising.

Do you know if anything was done to the engine? If the maf is on the intake and theres a bov on the charge pipes thats not recirculated then yeah, boosting then letting it drop quickly will definitely make it die :)

I dont think there is anything done internally. If so, its still only set at 6 or 7lbs. I know a kid who has an extra block that I could forge on the side but I dont t hink I wanna go that far into it. At least not till I know for sure if i'm keeping it or not. I love the reliability of my mp3 :)

So the turbo is an Emusa. I read about it and its just an ebay brand but its not horrible. I dont like how long it takes to spool tho so I might go back to a stock one. Smokes a little under boost also

It will be plenty reliable if you put a stock turbo kit on it. Is that a Thunder mani or a MAM Thumper mani? Is it a T3 turbo? Once you get it tuned it will probably be pretty damn fast but a forged engine would be required before long. Please find some stock silver mirrors, look like the FMIC is crooked, that would drive me crazy if it were my car.

Its a thunder mani and it is a t3 t4 on it right now. Some people on 240sx forums are running the same one and are pushing like 20lbs and havent had a problem with it. I HATE the mirrors lol. Gonna go to a salvage yard soon to look for some more. Intercooler does seem to be a little crooked too. Also noticed the side mount is still chillin in the engine bay. I might sell the thunder mani, turbo, s-pipe, stock intercooler and piping along with an msp computer sometime soon. Whats a fair price for a kit like that? I'll just be getting stock ones to put back on it. I wanna return it to stock besides the fmic before I sell it
