Boost fall off

My friend thought it could be caused by the stock intercooler piping's ability to expand.

That way when boost builds up to a certain point it would rather stretch the OEM piping a bit than go straight to the throttle body, and more volume = less density.
This also explains why after running 9psi for a week or so, boost fall-off was more common. Maybe during that week the i/c piping gained elasticity?

Anyways, I was wondering if any of you guys with ceramic or stainless intercooler piping experianced anything like this. Thanks.

I don't see the drop as being that big of a deal. Honestly, if you are really worried about it I'd hop on JDMSams group buy on the hard pipes.

Sounds like a great idea to me.. this stock stuff pisses me off.. now i just gotta find the link to that group buy... :o

:D

What fixes do we have so far for those of us who do not want/cannot afford hard pipes? Just find the leak by moving a bunch of tubes until you hear something? Can't wait for my MBC...

how many threads about the drop in PSI are you willing to start?

Should I get going on all the IM's I've recieved about it :D lol... At least he isn't interrupting your lunch, work, dinner, "quality" time with the other half (bj) , etc. :).. I don't mind helping, but let it go a bit :). I never once said "why the hell is my boost dropping off?" with my car and I think I was making a bit more power :).. You are focused on all the wrong issues. Put it this way- the boost dropping off is the only thing that will keep you motor together at 11+ psi :).

From all the threads on this topic I thought boost drop off was just a characteristic of this turbo setup and there are no leaks or failing bpv. Mine doesn't drop off too much at wot..not enough to really notice anyway unless you have your eyes constantly peeled to the boost gauge.

I'm with you, I really don't notice that much of a boost fall off, at WOT mine pretty much pegs the 11psi mark and then maybe levels off at like 9-10 but that's it, you really have to be watching it to notice it though.
