BMW anyday....get some new designers at MERC and come out with something agressive and i mite reconsider.

bmw all the way. no competition. mercedes cars are way over priced and you get crap if you buy the baseline model. bmw gives you good things for your money without robbing you, such as the 530i, 325i, z4 2.5, and x5 3.0. also, the 70's and 80's bmw's are reliable for 250,000+ miles. i know a guy who has a e30 with 220,000+ miles on it, and it runs really good. i think it depends on the owner of the car. also, i dont think bmw make cars to last over 150,000 miles nowadays. i could be wrong about the 3.0 inline six, but im pretty sure the 4.4 v8 isn't made to last that long under hard condition. think about all that electronic stuff they put into their cars, such as dcd, sbc, tcs, iDrive, and so on. also, what v8 is happily free of maintenace over 100,000 miles that has been driven hard?

Personally though; I would take a BMW M3 - between those 2 makes. That's the car, I would want most of all. The SL500 with the new folding roof is nice, though. But; as a driver's car, the M3 is it. (cool)

someone probably already said it, haven't read much, but sl65 amg, that is all i have to say...does bmw have a street car anywhere near as fast as it, i don't think so!

BMW. MB's design is plain and they cader to much to older customers. And another is they package a auto with all AMG vehicles. Were BMW has manual and SMG trannies.

Never heard of SMG, but I just did a little search. Looks pretty awesome, it basically does heel and toe for you on downshifts. I bet automatic rev matching like that probably helps those trannies last a while.

Tha Beamerrrrrr. The new 7 series looks so #%^&^$# Sexing. I think I might propose to her.

Me and a friend have been waging a war on each other, the question at hand, is BWM or Mercedes, we both have our own points, which will not be disclosed so as not to damage the results. Voting is to be based on personal feelings, post those feelings. Include reasons such as History of the automaker, quality(of all the areas), price(value), racimg history, and all around everything.

if you are talking about racing then bmw owns mercedes. bmw has had a rough history, they were in debt to bavarian(the region/government the car was founded in). they almost went bankrupt, but i think the 2002 bmw gave them sells and they paid the region back. i dont know much about mercedes history. price wise, i would say buy a new used one, and you could save like $5k to $15k. i wouldn't recommend buying one with more that 30k miles on it, and if you buy one, expect to pay some high maintenace reparis around the 85k to 90k miles.

I'm going to have to disagree. Mercedes racing history is up there, I would say more so then bmw.

I voted BMW but they both suck, unless it's a M3 or M5. Merc is s*** for reliability, and styling is pretty poor. BMW's are just a plain waste of money for their poor value. The 3 series has always been plain looking, nothing to write home about. I like the look of the recent 7's though.

K, Merc has a good racing pedigree. They've built cars for over a hundred years. Recent reliability is pretty crappy, but I think they have an advantage in the horsepower battle. Yeah you can argue the N/A vs forced induction thing, but it's okay by me to use a power adder.

BMW isn't gonna get 738lb-ft of torque from a N/A motor unless it's like 10 liters or something.

Also, Pagani uses the Merc Engine for their car.

why people say mercedes has no race history is beyond me. I vote mercedes all the way. Also they have always been serveral steps ahead. Granted they have some electrical issues but thats what you get or being innovative and come out with things that people never dreamt of. Not like the japaneses companies that just borrow designs and work out some flaws because now they know what to fix an stuff.

hitler drove a mercedes. so did saddam. if you want to be like hitler or saddam, drive a mercedes!

kidding, i just like bmw's better. the 3 series pretty much started the whole sport compact movement.
