Automatic or 5-speed?

...... seriously folks; there is no option: 5 Speed

My wife's Protege ES is a 5 Speed. She would drive nothing else. If you want an automatic, buy something else. The 'Sport' is gone with anything but a manual transmission. No room for further discussion here.

Also; not interested in this semi-manual crap. I want a clutch, and a gear shift. Maybe paddles; if I owned a Ferrari 360 Modena; but that ain't gonna happen! (rofl)

IMO Driving an automatic is like operating a golf cart. You are in a moving vehicle but it's not really driving. Auto = less control and less fun.

haha I agree, there is no question 5 spd all the way. If your gonna have fun driving a car, it has to be with 5 spd

I went on a business trip last week and Hertz gave me an 03 Protege Sedan. I thought sweet, I won't have to be w/o my mazda for the next 3 days!

Well, obviously it was an automatic...and by the time I left the airport parking lot I was bored stiff. Go-Kart is right. The car just doesn't work as an automatic. It sucks all the "zoom zoom" out of the engine.

When I got home I was glad to be in my 5-spd P5!

Actually i've thought about that myself before. Then the RPMs won't be as high when you are cruising at 70-80MPH.
