Auto-X Tire Question

I'm thinking that I like the "using higher pressure" idea...but you never know. I'll try it, sounds easier to manipulate between runs

running lower pressure in the rear creates a more progressive oversteer as the sidewall will deflect more. Higher pressures in the rear will create more of a snap oversteer as you are running on a narrower contact patch. Try them both and see what you like.

I run slightly lower rear pressures and toe-out in the rear...very nice. Bad for the street, good for autocross.

that's what i've found, and why i like the lower pressure in the rear. i tried a bit of rear toe out last year- wonderful on dry, open courses...SCARY on smaller, wet courses (particularly high-speed slaloms). i'll take a larger rear bar, please. :)

higher pressures work by bowing the tread out a bit, narrowing the contact patch. i'm not sold on the usefulness of that method on Azenis (b/c they're so stiff), although the new 615 Azenis might be more amenable to such tactics. but it works wonderfully on "normal" street tires.

ha! ain't that the truth?

well, there's 3 races left, and it's not like I'm looking to win anything, so I've got ample opportunity to try them both. Thanks so much for y'all's help. I think for this weekend's race I'm gonna go w/ higher pressure. Does 40/45 f/r sound abt right, or should the rears be higher than that (don't wanna damage the tires...)

Yep, it worked pretty well :). I didn't do so great, but that's not the tire's fault lol. They held on WAY better than my street tires lol

Yeah, switching from street tires to Azenis is like night and day. Now you have to try R-comps... ;)

naa, too rich for me. I just couldn't believe that the azenis cost about the same as a regular stree tire, I'm pretty pleased w/ that.
