well took msp out for its first session at VIR. lots of stumbles under boost. couldnt make it through session. before today i replaced - wires/plugs/ignition and changed out wga to ATP 6 psi version. has injen intake and a different muffler. plugs are zfr6f ngks. i just pulled the plugs and one of the wire boots broke yay! so heading to get new wires from advance auto. there is a vacuum leak but cant find it - wga was one of the reasons, im around 12-14. car was boosting fine before upgrades. i was off by a gear so was coming out of turns in the 3-4k range.

plugs are whiteish at tips and goto black after curve

any ideas?

alright new plugs/wires/coils - still getting same problem. feels like hitting an rpm rev limit. fuel cut?

think it might be spark blow out - sounds like this video;

gap was .042 on new zfr6f-11 : pulling plugs again to regap. unfortunately i still cant get the rubber boot off of one -

turned out to be mis gapped plugs ! heh next issue was soft brakes - ive bleed them 3 times so far no luck. still managed a full session at end of day. still finding right gears for track. used to never use 2nd gear and this car wants to stay above 5k rpms - need my aim display for shift lights this thing is quite compared to my bmw race car.

My last trip to VIR, if i can remember correctly, i was down to second going into the big sweeper, after the front stretch, and then again going into Oak Tree.
there is nothing like going thru the esses, after Nascar at 110MPH, lol.
i went with a friend that had a Evo X, and i ended up behind he a few times, he was amazed that he could pull way ahead of me on the straights, but i would catch him in the first, or second turn afterwards.

my MSP has always had soft-er brakes compared to other cars ive had, and the ABS dose whatever it pleases, i always take the Fuse out, so i get a little more control.
i actually had to do a Front Brake job on mine after the event in the parking lot at Auto Zone, cuz i wore the pads down to the metal.

glad you figured out the Plug problem, i got that the first time i changed my plugs after gapping to factory recommendations. if you search, you will find the threads with what has worked for others.

i had a lot of fun there for my first track event, and plan on trying to make another one before the end of the year.
good luck with her, and Happy Motoring

i havent been on track in 2 years - was a little rough, not used the speeds hehe but got back into it by end of sunday. thinking of going with mustang group at end of month for 3 days VIR full.

brakes are beyond soft and not consistent - they pump up so each turn had different pressure levels at the same brake pedal position. made braking difficult. so i am replacing master cylinder and then changing to stainless braided lines.

sunday went good until last lap of last session. looks like i melted the new atp wga diaphragm in a couple hours of use. suddenly had was overboosting and hitting fuel cut. when i got back to pits i found the front O2 sensor connector plug were melted so im guessing the diaphragm is shot.

so repair list is: master cylinder, brake lines, wga, o2 plugs, and heat management.

already have a carbon vented hood (need to install) and i am going to fabricate real ducts for the radiator and intercooler. also need to fab a flat bottom from front axle forward and close off wheel wells (plastic is missing). point wise for TTE i cant make a splitter though :(

wish list: camber and weight loss

What did u gap them to?

.028 - i will probably pull and use something more accurate than the $1 tool from autozone
