  The dealer jsut called me, and my speed is not done. They got the wrong hose for my coolant leak in. They finally seen the hesitation, but want to put a data logger on the ECU to see if its a fuel map or timing issue. (the MSP tech there supposedly is the Garage Guru, the king allmighty of mechanic/tuners) So we will see what that brings.

It just pisses me off that they had my car since yesterday, and Im stuck driving a big ass dakota king cab. (its nice, but just cant handle like my speed :D )

So we will see what comes tomorrow, I will keep you all posted.

Let us know what they say please, and also if you have a name and number so that I can have my service guy give him a call.

My service guy had my car for two days and said they didn't feel any hesitation. The minute I left the lot I could feel it...

nutting wrong with getting a truck every now and then to drive....except for gas. I've gotten one a few times, and it's great, I think of everything I have to get/pickup that won't fit in the car. I've actually planned getting my bushings replaced around times I need to pick something up so I can grab a truck :)

Anyhow, as for the important thing......nice to know someone is looking into this

Bottom line, if Mazda ignore the clunk, then the hesitation/stalling problems with their first official Mazdaspeed Car.....they can kiss the franchise good by...specially after pissing people off with waiting for so long.,

WEll they still got my MSP and were real shady with giving my info about it. Said that 1 part was wrong, Methinks im gonna take a drive to the dealer after work to see my car, if its not done. Im sooooooo pissed. I truly think they screwed up my car.

I got mine at munday mazda at 1960 and 45 north and take it there for service. I know the service guy pretty well and just told him that is hesitates. Just told him this and as well as a minor leak of coolant that I noticed going to the turbo. They fixed the leak but nothing about the hesitation issue more people need to take their MSP's in for this and have it documented.

UPDATE:

Well its friday at 3:30 and still no call from the dealer telling me my car is done or not. I called, and got voicemail. ARRRRHHHH. Methinks its time to start climbing the foodchain to see what the issue is.

All I had done was my door panels replaced, bushings, the coolant hose replaced (this is the part they said was shipped wrong, and needed to re-order.) the hesitation looked at and verified again, and a rough idle when the cooling fan kicked on.

Not hard issues, but makes me wonder if something didnt happen to my damn car in thier hands. Believe me, that car is going on a lift, and looked at very, very closely when I pick it up. I have had tooooooo many bad expeiriences with half assed service depts with my previous cars.

UPDATE NUMBAH DEUCE:

My car is done. Door skins are atill creased due to the way it is released from the mold, my bushing replaced. (lets see how long before the clunk is back) Hesitiation was seen, all data turned over to Mazda, Mazda is aware of this already, and are diligantly working on new software to correct (The Dealers words not mine) My rough Idle apparently disapeared when I put the stock airbox bacl on, I think it was the hot air blowing into my K/N filter, so heat shield here I come. (until the Injen is released.)

You know guys, if the Dealer says that Mazda knows about it, I'd sign up on the MyMazda site and send them folks an email. They're pretty good about responding and even getting in touch of the dealership for you.

As for it really getting RESULTS is a different story, but that's one way to start climging

that would be cool if mazda made a new ECU mapping and MADE IT PUBLICLY WELL KNOWN. you go to the dealership and they flash you new, no questions asked. that would be nice...just a dream of mine.

Ohhh dex trust me, I will be following up with Mazda about this issue. Matter of fact, Ill be placing a call as soon as I get home. Im gonna try and get through to someone else then the customer service resp. (no knockin them, I was one myself, but most mfr reps dont get this info until its actually released.)

Mine is going in tomorrow for the sub that died and the power shudder. Car & driver noticed the shudder too, maybe we should bring in a copy of this article.

"Occasionally, the Mazdaspeeds engine surged under load and then rocked with a violent shudder. Fuel problems and computer hiccups were suggested as possible causes. "

Third Place
Mazdaspeed Proteg
In its previous life as the MP3, the hot-rod Proteg dazzled us with its quick reflexes but disappointed with its lack of muscle. So Mazda called around and found a turbocharger for it. Things are definitely looking up, but whether by accident or design, the Protegs makers have left ample space to grow.

Fundamentally, the Mazdaspeed is just the same feather-footed dancer as the MP3except that it cleaves 1.2 seconds off the MP3s 8.3-second 0-to-60-mph time and 0.9 second off its 16.5-second quarter-mile. That latter distance now passes at 90 mph in the Mazdaspeed instead of 84 mph in the MP3.

The Protegs invigorated throttle now answers the call with more than just noise, especially between 3000 and 4000 rpm, where the MP3s non-turbo 2.0-liter was about as exciting as a snifter of Listerine.

Turbo lag is pleasingly short, but the engine remains thrashy around its 6500-rpm redline. Worse, power delivery is sometimes lumpy and less predictable. Thrust can vanish with a whoosh when the pedal lifts, provoking an unsettling whiplash through the driveline. The turbo can always be heard as that dog whistle under the hood.

Occasionally, the Mazdaspeeds engine surged under load and then rocked with a violent shudder. Fuel problems and computer hiccups were suggested as possible causes. No longer Listerine, the engine improves its status to that of boxed wine.

In comparison tests, the Mazda Protegs always seem to offer the sharpest steering, the best weight balance, and the lowest center of gravity. Likewise, the Mazdaspeed rewards real drivers.

The svelte, three-spoke wheel feels honed enough to splice a lane into millimeter-sized cutlets. The steering is lightno sneezing in a sweeper or you may dart for the weedsbut tugs itself to the center with a good sense of the straight-ahead, wrote one driver. The seedling-tall Sparco shifter has overly heavy detents but never gets hung up or lost.

Once the suspension sets in a turn, the pilot can park the car at its handling limit with the throttle. No bobbing or wandering, plenty of grip, no surprises. The only real cheap-car DNA is in the tire thrum, the thunks from suspension impacts, and some wind noise.

The Mazdaspeed carries on the MP3s role of being an elaborate stereo-delivery device. The Kenwood Excelon receiver and its various accessories will put up a 450-watt (0.6 horsepower) wall of sound. So dont even try to ignore the radio. It craves attention. The motorized folding faceplate performs a little ballet every time the car is switched on. Its digital display ceaselessly winks with pixilated TV commercials for the car, for itself, and, apparently, for interstellar travel.

If the objective was to distract the driver, fumed one, it has succeeded.

Titanium-hued, Lycra-looking inserts make the seats resemble jerseys for a pro-football team. Fancy pseudo-suede inserts on the doors, delicate ribbons of orange stitching, and painted trim plastic prove that someoneperhaps with a peculiar taste for colorswas sweating details. The back seats are the most spacious to report for duty.

Given that the substantially slower MP3 won the Budget Banditos comparison, how come this Proteg only rates third here? Before putting pen to furious letter, dear reader, note that there was no SVT Focus or SRT-4 in that earlier test.

Also, just three points separate the top three finishers in this test. A harsh decision, but until Mazda serves up an engine to match the moves, we have to defer to those more transformed.

My rough Idle apparently disapeared when I put the stock airbox bacl on, I think it was the hot air blowing into my K/N filter, so heat shield here I come. (until the Injen is released.)

I put my stock air box back on also..seems to have helped.

I'm going into the dealer tommorrow about hesitation..we'll see what they say...

Like boostisgood said,

I can't wait....

Boostisgood: Please let us know if and when there is a recall or a TSB... my ass is gonna be 1st in line at my Dealer

UPDATE ON EPROM FLASH.

My service mgr called me today. He said expect a phone call within the next 2 weeks to get a new flash of the ECU to help level out the fuel/timing issue that is causing the hesitation/sluggish throttle response.

We will see.

Well I'm gonna check w/ my Mazda Dealer to see if they'll have anything (that's after you get the ECU retuned)

If not, it looks like I'm going to Pittsburgh! :D
