Anyone trading P5 for new Sportif??

Just Wondering,,,,

How many of you are thinking about the future in which you trade your P5 for a new MX Sportif....I will be making mine the 5 or 6 speed. No more erratic automatics for me....I am convinced my P5 is cursed with this automatic and besides, I really like the "rock solid" look of the Sportif.

How do the rest of you feel?

IMO the prototype sportif is a badass looking car.
The titanium color and all the extra little features make it look hot. It looks a bit like the 6, matrix, and the chrysler's crossfire prototype.

If I test drove that car, and my opinion didnt change, i'd definetly trade mine in.

BUT, my concerns are

1. It is a much higher sitting car, which would affect handling, yes?
2. Like I said the ti color and all the trinkets make it look hot, but if and when it hits the market, they won't all look like that. I personally think they will look much more of a family car, especially with other colors that they could come up with.
3. Faint conversations I've heard of this car having too high of a percentage of ford parts.

but hey, who knows? Could be the end all, own all car!~

since the new sportiff is supposed to share the same platform as the new ford focus i'll pass...the choices of real mazda built cars dwindles as the new 6 spawns new ford sedans...only the rx8 would be anywhere near consideration

but nothing anytime soon...as the turbo goes on the pr5 (really really needs power) i'm gonna keep this one for at least 2-3 years before considering selling it

Sportif?

Hey jaje,

I hear what you are saying about the platform sharing with the Focus...(a car I have heard a lot of complaints about)....But there is a forum in the Mazda3 section where all these dudes are arguing about that platform with the New Focus and New Volvo S40. Some of these guys think all the cars will be built in the same plant, others think all in U.S. and another "knows" that the Mazda3 and Sportif will still be built in the old 323/Protege' Sedan plant in Hiroshima.

My guess guys, it is gonna be a wait and see......

Also, to those saying "WTF",,,,about trading the ol' P5???...Dont get me wrong, I really want to love this car because it is a blast on the interstate and gives a great road feel better than some German Cars......But the fact remains,,,,it has been a problem since day 1 for me....And the erratic shifing auto trans has really bombed it for me. Could kick myself for not fighting for the wanted 5speed but that is the way the deal went to get me outta a wrecked car......

Sportif isn't my style (too bubbly). I'm gonna just keep the Protege5 and move on to a different type of car when the time comes.

I wanna try own all types of cars before I get old...

I second that thought, never will buy an automatic car again, and provided I can afford it have my heart set on an Rx-8 in the distant future.

If hell froze over, and the heater in my Pro5 was broken, I would suffer the freezing cold before I bought a Sportif. IM(very strong)O.

I'm 99.9% sure it's going to be called the Mazda 3 (after Mazda 6 would be natural). MX Sportif was just a colorful concept name.

What ever chassis is used, it WILL BE TUNED/MASSAGED BY MAZDA!
