Allow me to jump in here, I have a 03 Mazda TS. I decided that i need to put an alarm on the vehicle. So I went to the shops and they charge me 310 for a viper, the tech at the shop stopped and said that there is a factory alarm already installed into the wiring harness. The Car also came with a HKS Turbo Timer, this is the way I purchased the car. Now there is also another little black box in the trunk, for the love of God I have no Idea what it does or why its there. So I decided to go to Mazda and 84.00 later they gave me a FOB key, and mapped it to the brain. Now I ASSUMED that all was fine. Until I decided to test the alarm a few day later to see if it is working. By trade I am an electrical engineer. The kind tech hand at Mazda was good enough to give me a complete install manual for the Factory alarm.
Now the problem is!!! What is the box in the back, Mazda seems to have no Idea, and when I am the alarm it just stays solid does not blink. It also appears that the emergency button, is missing the button. No big deal a simple dip switch at autozone or Radio Shack will solve this problem. I did check voltages to the brain and I did realize that on pin 8 of the 18 pin alarm harness when you press the lock button, 12v is suppose to be at that point. So when I did test it There was no 12v going, but the manual says to check for voltage at the key entry module under the break to the left by the kicker panel. Does this make any sense. Now the doors do open and close with the remote but that's about all. If you arm the car with the window down and open it dose nothing. If you put the key in the alarm turns off and the car starts. Something is a foot. Any ideas!! (braindead
