Hey! I just wanted a few opinions on different amps since I haven't heard much in person. I'm looking for another amp for my sub and im gonna move the amp thats powering my sub to power my separates. I'm almost certain that I'm gonna get a Directed 600d amp, but if I can get something better for cheaper I might get that instead. I thought about Xtant but those are waay out of my price range. I can get the Directed amp for $350. What amps do you guys think sound good? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

look at this!!

Xtant X1001 mono 1000 watt amp - $400

LOOK AT THAT!! a match! we have found a match!!

my amp that has out powered almost any amp I have ever seen is the ///Alpine MV-1507 V-12 series amp .. its 1500 watts and stable at 1/2 ohm ... this thing is a BEAST .. its line 1 & 1/2 feet long adn line 3/4 foot wide and about 35 lbs .. but damn it looks great and i remeber one day i bet a local audion place that my amp could out power any subs they had and he said that if I won they would give me the subs I wanted to buy (pioneer Premeir 12') so he hooked it up to a clarion head unit and RF XLT (i think that was teh series) and he got about 3/4 of the way up on the volume and it ripped the coil from the speaker and tore the rubber outter ring .. so needless to say i got my subs lol

The Xtant will rip the alpine a new Ass!
I sell both of them and I oned both of them! Nto to mention i loved both of them. For a class A/B amp the alpine is an engineering wonder but when compared to a class D amp designed for SQ competition it falls short. Not to sayits not good, becuase it very much is.
The Alpine will do around 900 watts rms at 14.4 volts at a 4 ohm load and it can not reliably run uner that impedance. The Xtant will produce over 1000 watts rms at any input voltage.

i have never personnaly heard of Xtant but when I hooke it allup and installed it i brought it down to that shop for testing and to fine tune it and they ran it at 1/2 ohm and they showed it peaking at like 980 or like 989 wattage so i mean i know that the alpine i had was the largest amp i have ever seen at the time adn even though it ws 4 years old i sold it for $400 and the kid thought i was giving it away for that price .. i bought it for $900.00 U.S.D. and so when i get a new system i have a pawn shop selling a set of 12' pioneer premeirs like i had for $149.00 in a box and since i will save on that i will be able to put more into the amps and interior speakers .. since i plan on running 3 tv's (2 in the back of the headrests and one indash DVD player) and two 12 inch subs two amps and replace the interior speakers heres hopping

Oh wow I never even noticed that amp in your sig. It's very tempting...now I really want it instead of the directed! haha. I'm just worried about my sub. I got an IDQ and it runs at 350 rms @ 2 ohms and 1000 @2 will kill it wont it? Unless...can that amp run at 8ohms?

MP5Racyer, the reason you saw a low output of the Xtant X1001 is simple. IT ISN"T 1 OHM STABLE! The X1001 can only go to 2 ohms! Anything lower will damage the amp.
The predisesor to the X1001, the 1001X was 1/2 ohm stable but didn't put out alot of power there. However at 1.3 ohms it kicked out over 1500 watts rms.

daKineP5,
The amp can be run anything higher then 2 ohms. It will just produce half the power at 4 ohms as it does at 2 ohms. As long as you are conservative wiht the gain any sub will be fine, just listen to it and you'll know its limit. Not to mention you will be able to upgrade your subs or get 2 of them with the X1001.

how does the xtant1001 compare to the jl1000/1 ? :) :) :)

According to some insider Info i heard it is its predisesor. Basicly one of the main enginners at Xtant during the design of the 1001X also designed the JL 1000/1.
