damn that b**** handled it through those cones Even a RWD conversion would be nice to have, AWD I would imagine would be pretty sick, tho not necessarily needed for DD on the city streets

Add the 122lbs of this kit and there is only a difference of 314lbs. That's considerable if you are taking your car to the track, but for most of us who don't it is roughly the difference between driving by yourself and driving with two friends. I'm sure Mazda also had that in mind. Plus the 274HP that the MS6 puts out (which would be equivalent to what an AWD MS3 woudl put out) is not enough to compete with the EVO or WRX so Mazda simply tackled the 2WD market successfully instead of falling short of the goal in the AWD market.

my guess would be the rear differential is now located where the gas tank was located. so they moved it into the spare tire well.

I think the new Cobalt SS has proved you don't need AWD to have a great handling chassis. I think Mazda was wise to make the MS3 FWD. The MS6 is awesome with AWD but its for a slightly different customer.

ehh..i dunno. 275hp out of the box and awd for 26ish would be ideal! it's way more powerful than the regular wrxs that have been available, and alot cheaper than the EVO and STIs. I think it would be ideal, honestly. While an option for it sounds ideal, in reality i think that it's a marketing litmus test that would have ended up leaving a bunch of excess fwd ms3s around.

high power and fwd just isn't ideal for a car that is primarily a street warrior. i think the turbo honda guys have shown us that...

i love my ms3, and have driven nothing but fwd as my main vehicle for 10 years, but considering what else is available now, i would rather it be awd.

On a side note, if an AWD option was available for a few thousand more, I would've gladly paid extra for it. There's nothing wrong with having your cake and eating it too!

the base price of a speed3 compared to the base price of the evoX, almost $10k. i think an AWD speed3 version from the factory would have still been a better bargain.

and if it could have been done from the factory they wuldn't even have to change the power output either, just get rid of the limited boost in 1st and 2nd and im sure it would be a very low 5 second 0-60. i've seen the ms6 advertized at 5.4 seconds 0-62
