Think I got it. So you sawed off the tab thing coming off?
i just left the tab on, u cant see it, but i didnt cut my piping either, i'll get a pic of it as soon as i can

Well I just moved it god dam that s*** was a tight fit. But IT WORKS! I bent the metal tap a little to fit the coolant box in, that s*** is tight but its in there. :)

only if the car overheats, the radiator cap has a valve that will open and let the fluid overflow out of the radiator, the tank just contains it instead of draining on the ground, u do need it but for a few days its fine

Actually you're wrong. It it there to catch excess fluid when the car warms up and stores it for when the car cools and sucks the excess back in. It's to keep air out of the system and make the cooling system more efficient.

That said, yes you can live without it,for a short time. You will need to add coolant when it's reinstalled.

As for the AEM intake, I'm glad someone finally dynoed it and found out how crappy it is in the "correct" installed position. I liked the Injen better because of it's location.

Yea I noticed more power after sitting at traffic lights in the heat, plus the growl has increased!

Neat. I'll have to do this tonight or tomorrow sometime. Thanks for the dyno. Maybe it'll give me piece-of-mind until I get the turbo :D.

Chris

let me put it this way, with mods i listed in the first post i keep up through 1st/2nd and third until vvt kicks in with a se-r spec-v with a injen cai and nismo r-tune header.

I had the injen before i got the AEM, but having that filter so low to the ground and the way it floods down here in Texas....i had to get rid of it.

The growl will definitely be louder now that its sitting much higher in the engine bay. And i actually had that "tab" piece shaved off and then had the intake powdercoated, so it wouldnt show any marks....and of course match my valvecover (smoke)

Wow Batmang, that was an impressive under the hood shot. Gotta love that car!!! ;) (its mine for ppl who didn't know)

You just turn the bracket, it uses one less bolt, so you could drill another hole in either the bracket, or on the chassis part. You don't have to cut the bracket or anything.

Actually theres plenty of holes on that floor where the bracket was originally located.....you just have to move it to the one closest to the edge and turn it to the front....check my 2nd pic on page 3, the intake is in the way but you get the idea.

Okay, just did this mod. Butt dyno says = Teh Win! Sounds better, runs smoother and pulls a bit harder in 2nd and 3rd gear.

Ah, understandable

The Injen intake i had was cursed.....i nearly hydrolocked my engine by going thru some flooded water, luckily i shut the engine down before it took in all the water.....so i sold it a friend (headshake and then he hydrolocked his car by going thru flooded water, and had to get the insurance to pay for a new engine. I now have the Injen intake stored in a box and locked up for good. (usa)

Okay, after further driving....the intake pipe still gets hot. I was in bumper/bumper traffic for a good 20min. The loss of power from heat soak isn't there as much. Still pulls nice in 2nd and 3rd gear. Could just be my imagination.

i dont know guys, im kindof hesitant to chop upmy intake. I dont wnat my tab to get sawed off and look janky. I thinkill leave it how it is.

on a fs-de n/a motor(or any n/a motor for that matter) putting the filter behind a fan = dumb, im not sure what they were thinking when this was designed(maybe they weren't at all)
