Adding Sub and Amp.

I'm wondering if somebody could give me some advice about what type of sub/amp to buy. My budget is about $600-700 Canadian, and I was thinking of going with one 10" sub in a relatively small box. I already have a new deck, and have replaced all of the stock speakers. First of all, where should I have the amp installed so that it is out of the way of luggage, and secondly, what brand, wattage, amp should I buy, thirdly, should I buy a multi-channel amp so that I can hook up my other speakers to it as well?
Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks.;)

As everyone else is going to tell you, it all depends on what you want to accomplish with your sound. If you aren't into the competition thing, check out some of Sir Nuke's posts in reagards to his system setup. I am going to go with the same setup as him.
The best place to start for help is with the search button on top of this page. Thousands of questions have been asked regarding the exact same question, and instead of filling up another post, check the ones posted earlier.
If you still have questions, Sir Nuke or 1stMP3inNH will be more than glad to help you out and get what you need.

Thanks for helping rmedoc, as always I'm glad your around.

For ruffly $400 US you not going to get the amp and sub installed that Nuke used. His amp was $250 and the sub in the box was $170. Thats already $420. You'll then need $20 for wires and supplies and another $30 for an 8 guage power kit for the amp.
$500 will get it done if you do the install. About $550 for perfessional install.

Its definitly worth it if you plan on keeping the factory headunit.
If you plan on replaceing the radio with a decent aftermarket one, $250 US or up then I would go with just small sub amp and the same sub as Nuke. This has the advantages of being less expensive and can be upgraded easier but Nukes amp will provide better volume and clarity then damn neer any radio you can power speakers with.

The Big thing is what do you plan on upgrading in the future.
Are you going to replace the factoey speakers and to what level? more levels exist then copetition and entry. For example, I have $800 front speakers and my system is no where near good enough for competitions.
Did you plan on getting a new radio in the future and to what level?

YOU silly goose...didn't you read his post! lol

he already has a new Head Unit...and has already replaced his door speakers....so the question would be....what head unit has he now got.....and what speakers did he put in the doors....NOW match an amp and sup to all that.....if you are are happy with the performance of your current deck and door speakers...then what 1st suggested would work for you....just a simple amp for the sub and a sub.......if you want to drive the whole thing higher that just what the head unit is going to put out....then a 5 channel amp may be the way to go.....
