First off, today has been extremely strange since I woke up. I woke up feeling bad, so I called in sick to work... About 11:00 I decided that I needed some lunch, so I figured I would take the truck out and stretch it's legs. I have totally full bottle of N20 since I plan on making a few runs this coming Sat. at the 1/8 mile track.
Anyways, en route to Subway (yum) I am travelling on a 4 lane road (HWY 18 to Raymond, as if anyone would know) that leads to a community college about 9 miles from where I live. I go this way mainly because there is virtually no cross traffic, long straightaways, and visibility is probably more than 3 miles on a day like today... In other words, if I want to go run the truck or whatever pretty hard (to clean the carbon out, lol) that's where I go. It just happens that Subway is down there too.
Well, as soon as turn onto 18, a White Toyota Supra with all sorts of graphics on the front quarter and driver's door ( some sort of geometrical flame looking deal) goes hauling ass around me. It was the newest body style, and from what I could tell, the car looked pretty stock other than the stickers all over the side. I was actually pretty excited, as I have only seen one other Supra of that make around here, and basically I was quite curious to see one in action. Well, about 2 or three minutes later, I catch up with him at a red-light. Unfortunately, he has a car in front of him, so that pretty much ruled out any fun on my part. Well, after leaving that light he went to pass me at about 50MPH and I went about half-throttle to let him know I was interested. He immediately slowed down and rolled his passenger window down...laughing at me the whole time. He yelled that we should run at the next light, ~400 yards ahead.
I have to admit, I was excited as hell, and I didn't have much time to hit the remote opener and cut on the warmer... it didn't matter that much anyways, as I was at ~900PSI already. About 100 yards before the light, he sped off and slowed back down... This gave me a chance to let off about a .5 second purge while he wasn't paying attention. At the light, he turned his radio up really loud, and slumped down in his seat until I could only see about the top half of his head. At yellow in the intersecting lane, I went to about 1/4 throttle, and brought the RPM's up to about 1800, just a few away from where the torque converter works it's magic. Anyways, at the start, I stayed NA until about 40MPH, a little into 2nd gear, while keeping about a 1 C.L. lead on the Supra. Once I hit the N20, I started pulling at a pretty fast rate until I hit about 70 or so let off. I was probably 5 c.l.'s ahead. I was damn near in shock... I figured that thing would wipe my ass all over the hwy. I waited for him to catch up, and he just hauled ass right past me... continuing on until triple digit speeds I imagine...
Well, when I reached Subway (which is actually a Chevron gas station) he was just getting out to put gas in his car. I walked over to introduce myself, and told him I was pretty impressed with his car, but I honestly thought the Supra's where faster than that... He said "The Turbocharged surpra's are, but mine is the regular V6 Model". Evidently he found somewhere that sold the turbocharged model's spoiler and wheels, as he had both. He did have an aftermarket exhaust, and some sort of homemade air intake... Poser...
It made sense to me though, as I imagine that a Turbo one, unless totally stock, would whip my ass... Anyways, that guy was pretty confused as to how a pickup could beat him by that wide a margin.. I took him over and leaned the seat forward to show him the bottle, and he said "Whoa, NOS! What is that a 300 or a 500 shot?" I s*** you not, I just smiled and told him I would see him around (while biting the insides of my mouth to keep from laughing.) At any rate, I thought I had accomplished something worthwhile, but I guess not. It was pretty fun, but not the best way to start off a new bottle.
