A/C Filter

You can change it. On most cars (not sure about ours) it's on the outside towards the bottom of the windshield, under the plastic looking grating. I'm going outside to smoke in a sec, I'll make sure that where it's at. Also if you turn your HVAC fan all the way up I believe you can hear where the air is being sucked in near the windshield.

EDIT: Just went out and look and didn't see it, but it souhld be somewhere in that area. If you go to Autozone or somewhere and buy a cabin air filter, then take it to the dealer you probably won't get ***** too bad for them to install it.

I do believe there is a cabin air filter. I could be wrong though. I'd find it very odd if it didn't.

No A/C or Cabin Filter

1. It is not listed in the specs. on MazdaUSA. A feature like that these days is worth bragging about. Other manufacturers do. If they will list the bright Mazda logo in the grill as a feature, they certainly would list a cabin filter.
2. There is no mention of a filter like this anywhere in the owner's manual. Not in maintenance schedule. Not in the index anywhere.

3. I see no reference to an A/C filter or cabin air filter in the service manual either.

4. Fram & Purolator don't list one for '02 and '03 P5s.

Therefore, draw your own conclusions.

Yeah I checked this a while back. Our cars do not have a cabin air filter. I noticed this car sucks the leaves and pine needles through the blower motor just like every other car I've previously owned.

My factory service manual makes no mention and has no pictures of one in the exploded diagrams, and I've looked all over the car for one.

Hmmm.... that's odd. I tought it was a std feature on just about all today's cars...

I think a lot of cars still have it as an option. My friend has a Ford Expedition that does not have the filter, yet he knows somebody that does have one. You'd think they would just make them standard on all cars. It's not like there is much more costs involved....I guess automakers will try and save every penny they can.
