I dont know if you can get them anywhere else but the dealer will definately have them and they are not that expensive anyway.
I believe I read somewhere that the relays Mazda used were hanging up open making the fans turn on???
Nonetheless, the new (light blue) relays fix the problem!

So this happened to me yesterday for the first time, but it wasn't the a/c that turned on it was just the fan that was blowing at full force. I moved the car into the garage and then a few minutes later pulled it back in and the fan kicked on. Don't know how long it was on, because I got tired of waiting for it to turn off and went inside. So I see that at least one person got the dealer to fix it for free, anyone else have any luck with it? Was it necessary to have the dealer experience the problem to get it fixed?

Actually it will turn off by itself in 30 seconds (when accessory power gets cut off).
It happened to me once, got quiet for a few weeks, and started acting up more frequently.
I took it in for services and mentioned this issue to the adviser, and he immediately knew the issue.
He even told me that the replaced relays are of different spec. Even the colors are different.
After that it never happens to me again.
So, in short, talk to your dealer. They knew the problem (which is very common).
If cost of repair is low even if it is out of warranty.

I'm having the same problem. They feel stuck in there pretty good. Are they extremely difficult/delicate to remove? Or am I just not pulling hard enough?
Yeah, you are just not pulling hard enough
Sometimes they can be a bit tough to pull out. You can use a pair of pliers to pull them out, just do not squeeze the relay too hard with the pliers. Just use enough force to clamp on to the relay.
Just replaced mine today, the dealer charged me $14.00 ea/warranty cost regular $16.00. I had to use my channel lock pliers to get a good grip and the popped right out. Hopefully this helps, but the only research was very helpful and I saved $20.00 bucks and a days use of the car by doing it myslef vs the extended warranty...
Thanks to the 1st poster: cx-9 for the picture. Replaced the two relays ($~14 ea. in NYC) myself with pliers even tho mine is still under warranty (08) coz the dealer wants the car to be dropped off.
