5zigen or hks muffler?

Unless you got a round center hanger for the carbon ti its really hard to angle out. If you put the bend down and then back up for the JDM look, you get some serious rubbing issues.

I guess it depends on how skilled your fabricator is. :) We've already done measuring and placement. It will work fine.

hey exa4driver, is your muffler angled out? it looks like it. you got more pics of your exhaust? i'd like to see the bend over the axle. i'm assuming that you have the axleback from hks. btw, how's the sound level?

gee, nobody's gone for the 5zigen. very interesting :D

That's the only way they come, with an angle. The hangers are placed stratigically to make it have the angled look. Very easy install. If you have access to a lift, it shouldn't take you more than 10-15 minutes. Sound is very deep, and resonates at about 3-4K RPM.

As for 5 Zigen, they are very good quality. The only thing is that they don't have a bolt on system. So you're gonna have to shell out the extra cash to weld on a flange to make it a bolt on.

edit in: Plus I'm just an HKS loyalist. My dad used their products in the 70's and 80's, and I started using their stuff in 91. Great quality, but kinda pricey.

cool. well actually, i'm gonna have the exhaust piping custom made. i'm just interested in the muffler. i subscribe to the bigger is better school of thought so i'm gonna go with 3" piping. i'm almost leaning towards 5zigen, just to be different :p

3" piping? Are you turbo charged? Might not be a good idea if you're naturally aspirated. The stock piping is sufficient enough.

Check his sig. MSPs are turbocharged. ;)

I'm going with 3" also.

haha, it's cool exa4....i could use the hks axleback for the p5 and just lengthen it a bit, but the piping's too small.

any other inputs?

JIC MAAAAAAGIC!!!!

I was about to say, why not just get ahold of a JIC Ti Muffler and fab up you own 3" exhaust. If you don't want the noise stay very clear away from the 5 Zigen as it will be the loudest of the bunch. JIC will be a bit quieter than the 5 Zigen. But, the HKS will be the quietest. Do keep in mind that the JIC Ti muffler will set you back about $280-$300 depending on who you get it from of course. Magnaflow is garbage and their main market is for those people who typically live in the midwest somewhere. If you want a quality muffler stick with HKS, JIC, GReddy, or APEXi. APEXi N1, N1 Ti, and R-95 are the real s*** and if you want to make a statement and be different definately go that route. But, if you want to blend in then stick with the HKS.

does anyone have a sound clip on a msp, not on a p5 cause its going to sound alot different on a turbo car......unless its a p5 turbocharged. haha

IMO, the Apexi N1 is the most played out muffler, probably because it's one of the cheapest (~$210).

the 5zigen is that loud? hmm....i thought it was somewhere in between say a tanabe and the hks. if i wanted a ti muffler, i'd get the hks.....but that's a little out of my price range....the only reason why i can consider a 5zigen is that it's on sale.

btw, any sounds that anybody has to contribute would be much appreciated...especially ones with hks or 5zigen exhausts :D

HKS mufflers rot from the inside out, that is why I'm not getting a HKS muffler. But I'm still looking for a good muffler too
