Long time, no post :D

So I'm looking through the service schedule and the manual today and don't see anything about when the transmission fluid should be changed  Anyone know?

It's not in the U.S. maintenance schedule anywhere, but in my owners manual, there's a separate schedule for Chile (of all places) and on that schedule, they recommend the manual trans oil be changed every 48 months or 48,000 miles.

Probably a great idea to do that service no matter where you live.

Chile may have some more sensible laws tha some other places I could name, as they also have a schedule for replacing the brake fluid every 24 months or 24,000 miles, and I KNOW that's a very good idea, though you never see it in any U. S. maintenance schedules.

I have always changed the fluid in my transmissions every 30,000 miles. Begining in 1985, I started using synthetic fluids in them and feel it adds life span to the parts. It also has made the transmissions shift better and smoother on the manuals. Make sure you use the correct type of fluid. My '88 323 called for ATF in the 5 speed manual gearbox, while my '83 Civic called for 30W motor oil in it's 5 speed. Jim
