4k RPM rev limiter

Never knew this but the manual transmission car has a 4k RPM rev limiter in neutral. Won't affect me any, just found it interesting.

Today I think all manuals have rev limiters.

What OP was noticing was the lower 4K limit in neutral only.

Probably there to prevent money shifts and accidentally grenade the engine.

Good idea, considering the diminishing numbers of drivers who know how to drive manual transmission properly.
I once had a roommate who bought a RSX-Type S but couldn't drive stick, so I had to drive it home for him. He then proceeded to teach himself how to drive stick... painfully... oh the horror...

i would never drive anything but a stick, cool to know that it does rev limit at 4000 also

That saves the transmission from splitting the case in case one decides to drop the clutch at 5500 RPM.

Good point about dropped clutch at high revs and associated damage, not sure the 4K limit for neutral will do anything to prevent that. That kind of abusive driving using is done with car in gear (and clutch in).
