I have a 2012 Mazda 5GT I bought new and it has about 35K miles on it. This last oil change I noticed fluid leaking at the trans/engine seam. I looked inside the bell housing and I can see it inside on the back side of the motor, also it seeped out near the half-shaft seal, and on the bottom of the bell-housing.
Since the car is under warranty I took it to Mazda Knoxville where I purchased it and had them look at it. They stated that it was not an oil leak and it was the rust proof coating on the torque convertor coming off. Now I worked for Exedy for almost 7 years building torque convertors and have quite a bit of knowledge about transmissions, they do coat the torque convertors with a rust proof coating but the stuff we used was more clear in color.
They stated they will not do anything because it is not a leak, I disagree, so they said if I can prove its oil (engine or transmission) they will look further into it. Does anyone know anywhere I could send oil for an analysis where they could tell me what kind of fluid it is? Motor Oil, Transmission Fluid, or Rust Proof Coating.
Any help would be great or if anyone else has this problem.
