'08 TCU reprogam?

I'm having a hard time getting a straight answer on this, even from different dealers.
I am replacing the TCM/TCU in my 5 with a used module. Does this different module need a reprogram? or is this a straight swap?

Should be a straight swap. Updated software may be available but the dealer would have to check it after you install it. Simple answer, should bolt in and work.

Thanks Loose. I'll try it. Do you happen to know if the harness from the TCU to the tranny has it's own ground point?

So got the new used TCU in. It did not throw any codes or go into limp mode, but the shift were very firm like before, until the tranny warmed right up. It also behaved very odd in reverse, again until the whole drive train was up to operating temps....
