'08 Cruise resume down-shifting and holding gear!

So this has happened a few times now. I can't replicate it so I haven't taken it to the stealership yet.

At highway speed (65-70), if I cancel the cruise and then resume it, it will sometimes drop into 3rd gear and hold it there. Sometime it will up shift to 4th, but won't go back to 5th unless I flip the stick over to M and then back to drive.

Anyone else had this happen?

After 32 others viewing this post I have to chime in here because I think everyone is hesitant to give advice on CC over the internet.

HOWEVER...

I can only advise two things.

1. Remove the negative battery cable over night and in the morning hook back up and then go to work. Within min the computer will 're-set itself'

2. Go by the dealer OR any shop that can run a CODE test on it and see if ANY codes come up.


after that:

I'd say that 'just the way it's programmed' and you know the computer on cars have to run extremely fast in order to process all that data, so maybe when CC is working the PC is taking it's sweet time to function properly ONLY when you 'send' another command like flipping the switch.

It seems every Mazda I've ever owned has a lazy upshift when using the cruise control. Drove me effing nuts sometimes.
