I understand that we couldn't open up the cars 100mph....but it was still fun. Only thing that I hated was waiting an hour to drive 40 seconds....waiting another hour for another 40 seconds fun and so on..... That fix that, it will be a blast.

Actually the one good thing about going at the end of the day is that there were not too many people there. I only had to wait a few minutes for each area, it was kind of nice not having to wait.

mark your car is in this mazdasport mag we took, cap is what if they still made the p5. Its from the rev it up pics from last year.

The wait wasn't bad in the morning either. From about 8:30-10:00 everything was moving along.

I actually liked the golf-ball event the best, at least it taught me the most valuable lesson.

The instructor I got for the RX-8 run was a joke. He told me about 2 seconds too late what the turn was and that was all he said during the run.

The wait for the MX-5 event was rediculous. I shouldn't have gotten back in line for a second run. I waited over 2 hours because they were having trouble with the timer. Then when I got my run it didn't report the correct time...My first run I had 42sec and my second he said was 49. No one was making 50 second runs and I was pushing the car trying to beat my previous time. Oh well, I still got my T-Shirt.

So when is the next NEPOC event?

Here ya go...

i wish...i saw that to then realized, not my grille, no eyelids and not my wheels!

i looked for you guys in the parking lot... didn't see any body... think i saw oleg getting out of a 3 at the drive your choice tent... that was about it... me and GF had a good time... it was a great day... she had a blast, i wish the lines weren't so damn long... the mx5 run was a mess, no picture of the track was kinda weak i thought, and the line was way to long, only did that one once, as well as the rx8 though i had a good instructor and so did the old lady... giving advice and the correct info about the corners... overall i would say rev it up was more fun, but for a price tag of FREE i really can't complain

I was a little pissed that the P5 was killed.

Really? The limited production was a selling point for me. I see only a handfull around my area. Everyone else has a Acura/Honda/Mitsu/Toyota.

yeah i was there but didint see anybody. well i dont know anybody so that may have something to do with it but i didnt recognize any of the rides either. Oh well it was pretty fun, i didnt go to last years event so i have no basis for comparison but i think overall it was cool, especially when its free. The lines were huge though and i wanted to do a second run on the mx-5. i did barely 40 secs and i wanted to push it a bit more but a 2 hour wait was a little too long whn i had to drive 3 hours back to VT. Yo Tsunami, what time were you there?

There are plenty of Proteges on the road but no one looks at the Protege5 and would ever think it was just a wagon version of the Protege unless they saw them side by side.

Mine is Laser blue which I consider even rarer than most since a) its not a common color and b) it was limited to about half the MP3s, only 2003 P5s, and a handfull of 2003.5 MSPs. You simply don't see it very often unless you go to a NEPOC event.

I always get compliments on the color and people always say they'd buy one but not a Mazda3. I'd have to agree with them because right now, I wouldn't trade it in for one.

2003 Proteges were also sold in laser blue, which is what mine was. Still, pretty darn rare. The color is indeed awesome (although I like my winning blue just as much :) ).

Howdy to my brothas from otha mothers!
I was lookin out for ya 2, but...I don't know anyone so...I was looking for NEPOC shirts and GI*OWNED shirts.

Had a blast, great event but 40 mins of wait for 40 seconds of driving?
Nice family event but I got a b-day present day off (wife went with kids and g-parents to Boston) and I got to go solo! Truly a rare treat!
Got there at 11 on Sat and stayed til 3.
1st - Golf balls....totally retarded.. but had none spill and was less than 2 seconds off target
2nd - School of Zoom - not only don't I fit the MX-5, the RX-8 is also 2 small. No headroom. Instruction was OK, RX-8 was soft in the curves and soft on acceler. (at least in stock trim....)
3rd - Performance challenge - really long wait time sucked balls. The course was challenging and the MX-5 I drive had NO tread left. seriously. none. it was a slick.
No matter how much I tried to get comfortable in the seat I could not AND MORE IMPORTANT , I COULDN'T SEE! The damn top of the windshield is right in front of my face! I pushed this one hard as I could.
You were supposed to beat 38 secs. I saw 3 spinouts on this course and a dozen SAVES where everyone in line goes "Whoa, that was close!" at the same time.
I pointed out the missing tread to the course staff. They shrugged it off.
I got a 41.191 in the automatic. This one had the paddle shifters, up and down on both sides of the wheel. very trick. gotta do that mod...
I was pumped up after the run. Line was still too long to go again.
4th - Went over to the final tent to drive a 3.
This was cool but how do you match a course time with no reference? This was the only tent that displayed the course layout on a board.
never driven that car, never seen the course layout, never been clocked on it yet..
I was going balls out for this one (last drive for the day).
I was screeching in every corner.
I beat the time by more than a sec, I think 38.12 and you were trying for 40 even.
Got my t-shirt, looked under the hoods and sat in the 3 and the 6. Cruised the parking lot again on the way out.

I was pumped after the MX-5 performance run also (41.???) ...I got back in line and waited for over an hour because of their timing issues. I finally got my run in which I thought was better than the first and it came up as (49.???). WTF?

The golf-ball and match-time events had maps of the course...why the performance-challenge didn't is beyond me. While in line I created an image in my head by watching the other drivers. However, the quick S turn on the back stretch caught me by surprise both times. The first time I was loosing traction around the previous turn and had trouble keeping control. The second time I came at it a little too hot and knocked over one of the cones.

I know what u mean...lots of surprises on that course and then the RX-8 too.
Staff there was good, disappointed not to see ANY Mazdaspeed 6 or something.
I dont remember a course layout for the golf ball course.
They had lots of timing problems. Every course had to do multiple "resets" of the timers while I waited. I think that PO'd some people.
No half naked chics like at HIN, which didn't stop people from bringin their kids to that event.
I would like to see other things then just a basic MX-5 launch event. I never saw Rev it up.
But it is fitting that this is now my 1 year anniversary since I got the P5.

i was there from noon till they started to shut it down around 5:45 or so...

That's why I got there early. I drove the MX-5 four times in a row (no waiting). They were having problems with the timer then as well. If you look at my pics you'll see the one kid that did a 180 on the track and took out a few cones.
