So - the deed is done!!! (yippy)

The third of Calgary's three Mazda dealers (Kramer Mazda for any Calgarians out there) had the magic we were looking for... an honest, straight forward, friendly guy who sells cars for a living as opposed to a "salesman"... a sales manager who didn't act like he was trying to win a fight... a business manager who cheerfully walked us through the accounting process accepting our "nos" to his upsell attempts without too much fuss and was actually able to get us better financing (shockingly) that what I had arranged previously.

At the end of the day (literally - it was about 45 minutes after the dealership closed) we completed the transaction and will be driving our new 2004 Mazda3 Sport GT automatic (loaded except leather interior) in titanium grey metallic off the lot Monday evening (yes, they even had the unit we wanted in stock on the lot).

We paid a fair price (using X-plan) and even got a solid net value for our trade after factoring the GST credit. WOW!!! A dealership experience where we didn't leave feeling beat up. There is hope for humanity after all! (cool)

Thanks Wongpres and Mazda3 for your insight on my earlier post.

Fantastic

It is great to read of a honest dealer. They far and few between. Be glad you aren't here in the Motorcity(Detroit) and own a import. Here one gets ripped off and the customer is always last and wrong. Best of luck to you, enjoy!

Using X-plan helps with some of the dealer games because the vehicle price is set (in fact, the particulars of the deal are submitted to Mazda Canada).

Congrats with your purchase and you'll love your new car.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience but not everybody gets ***** here in D-town. I bought mine from Sesi in Ypsilanti and I couldn't be happier with my purchase AND with the service after the fact. My sales person was friendly and helpful, the parts department is knowledgable and gives me outstanding prices and the service department is quick and competent.

You must have gone to Livonia Mazda... :(

Oh... umm... sorry about jacking your thread, ham. (silly)

Mazda uses the S-plan. The X-plan is what Ford calls it. It's the same thing just named differently between the companies. If you look at the dealer's invoice you can see the section that shows the price using S-plan; it's about invoice. I purchased my Mz3 using the S-plan and the actual purchasing of the car was amazing. I was in and out of there in 45min and I didn't have to negotiate a single thing.

Congratulations on your purchase!

The plan names and the types of deals you get from the plans are different for US and Canada - Mazda Canada has no S-plan, the supplier plan is called X-plan here.

X-plan in Canada for Mazda

No S plan that I'm aware of in Canada... X-Plan at Mazda in Canada is Dealer Net + 4% plus $300 PDI + $100 Admin.

As much as I'm sure it helpe dteh BS level - the people at Kramer just seemed a little more interested in being up front with us. The other two Mazda dealers in town left us feeling a little slimed.

cheers,
ham

My bad. Didn't realize that Canada uses the X-plan. Oh well, it's all the same anyway
