Zoom zoom boom? Too much power??

So I was trying to desperately hold on to my warranty, and now I am going downhill in a major way!! I am about to put in my downpipe/racepipe and about to get a great deal on a FMIC (tsx).

I've been searching the posts, but I have a few questions:

Will I need a tune? I think no
Will I need a new fuel pump, map clamp, etc? I think no

***Am I in danger of blowing my motor due to too much power? I have heard people say the closer you get to 300whp chances go up greatly of busting a rod. Thoughts??

Side questions, would using high heat ceramic engine enamel to paint the FMIC black reduce its efficiency? Or think I could get it powdercoated for $50-75? Would that change the efficiency?

Strictly speaking, yes, any coating will affect it's ability to dissipate heat into the air around it, however it may reduce the efficiency by a negligible amount. I would imagine that powder coating would have more of an adverse effect on efficiency that a thinner layer of paint.

will you notice a difference? no. Will your whole FMIC look sleeper? YES! Honestly, you won't even tell the difference nor will it really change your wheel horsepower. you'll be alright.

You dont NEED a tune and you dont NEED a fuel pump but both of those mods are worth it. If you do those upgrades youll be getting the most power out of those mods. follow me?

Thanks for the help. We've figured out....

1. Don't worry about having "too much" power with FMIC, dp/rp, etc.

2. Lightly painting or powder coating the intercooler won't make a noticeable difference.

BUT!! Do I need a reflash, tune, new fuel pump, map clamp, etc, to handle the FMIC and dp/rp??

Sorry, I was late on the draw I am keeping factory boost levels. I know I won't get the most from the mods at this stage, but I am not going to damage the vehicle right??

Your right foot and arm can be of more danger to your engine then any modification that you make. Control them and use them accordingly and enjoy the car. In other words, engines don't blow, some drivers make them blow!

You will be fine. However, you might get a few PSI more with the mods. If you do find yourself hitting boost cut, then you will need a Map Clamp, but you should be fine. I have simular mods vice the DP (have Racepipe) and I spike to 20PSI drop to like 17 and slowly taper to 15 before shift.

As long as you don't maintain above 18psi for more than a couple secs, you will be fine.

I spike up to 19...then drop to like 15.

I think its the wastegate kickin in and trying to get the stock boost

Definitely get a fuel pump!!! Your boost will last longer throughout the RPM range and your throttle plate will stay open longer. Plus you'll eliminate your 6,000 RPM power loss...

Fuel pump should be a mandatory mod!!! (trust me)

Plus, with the fuel pump you won't need to worry about a map clamp, tune, etc... The stock tune will support all your mods as long as you have fuel. A tune will just multiply your fun factor (HP/TQ).

And regarding blowing engines, YES, it is true... Push more than 350HP and you are in unknow terriory of when she'll blow.
Fact, stock rods can not support 350+ horsepower...

Mainly the ones that have blown their engines had big turbos... Stock turbo can't support much after 300HP.
