your thoughts on these intakes..

I am just curious how the HKS/APEXi intake filter kit, AEM SRI, or Injen CAI will perform against each other on a mild NA build or just in general.. Do you think CAI's are really worth it? If so why don't companies like HKS, Blitz, APEXi, etc. make CAI kits similar to the Injen (not for our cars but in general)? They all seem to be cone filter upgrades to the stock piping. Any thoughts?

btw I know this CAI vs. SRI has been discussed many times, it's more than that. I am looking for some real facts not just "cold air is better and denser" blah blah blah.. Thanks!

CAI vs SRI

I would say they are basically the same. You're not going to gain all that much from either one on our car. CAI or SRI, take your pick.

they are all much of a muchness. prob a max of 2whp difference between them all, however as everyone knows, with NA, every bit of power helps

I went from and ebay SRI with a K&N filter to a INJEN CAI. I didn't notice any difference from the butt dyno. Will have to wait until the next dyno day to actually see if there is a difference.

yeah there should be no butt dyno difference.

but it should be interesting to see the difference (if any) between the old 2.5" injen cai and the newer 2.75" cai. they will be run 1 after the other on the dyno when i test

I think the CAI may be useful to minimize the effects of heat soak on hard drives, but that's about it.

I never even knew they changed the design lol... the injen's tend to be louder than the AEM SRI??

I went from an Injen CAI that had 2.5 inch piping to an E-bay SRI that had 3 inch piping. It seemed to lose some low and mid rpm torque. I then went back to the Injen and I could feel the difference in the butt dyno. I think the 2.5 inch piping is better for mid range torque. IMHO.

A CAI has that cool sucking sound at idle..a SRI doesn't, but the SRI gives you a cool Clunking sound at start up.
