Your Average Silver P5

bazooka joe, I was originally going to forge and the whole shabang, but the interest is gone and I could use the extra money. I love the p5 but I'm not ready to drop that much money into anything since I'm still in school.

big Lou, I probably won't pass the visual inspection here in CA lol. Either way, my clutch is slipping now and it can't hold le power of the le turbo :(

WHO WANTS MY 3" STAINLESS EXHAUST??? lol

FYI you will need to open a proper FS thread to sell stuff.. ;)

That sucks ass. They should focus on what the computer & tailpipe say. The way it looks doesn't necessarily make it make more pollution. But yeah, I know, is what it is, no need for splanation.........

There's actually a new smog law coming out in CA in January 2013 (it's far away though) that requires only a visual inspection and they read your OBD II instead of "sniffing" the exhaust. I would probably fail visual inspection if I still had the MSP turbo because it didn't come stock with the car, unless I badge my p5 as an MSP5 hahah. Either way, I'm running a BOV which definitely won't pass, so throwing on a midpipe from an MSP won't do much.

You guys are very helpful, but I'm actually set on parting ways with the turbo kit. It was very fun, but driving fast isn't much of a big deal to me anymore lol.

Not trying to persuade you any more than the other guys, but I know people get around the smog laws in Cali. They can do full engine swaps as longs as the engine (full system) is as it was stock in whatever vehicle it came from. There are fiero guys that put caddy northstars in, but they even have to have a basically stock exhaust, intake and everything to pass the test.

I was just reading some of the earlier posts. You said you'd consider selling the turbo setup? Well if that's the case, and you make a final decision to do so. I might be interested if the price is right because I'm wanting to re-build a Mazdaspeed engine. Buying your set-up would save me alot of time and hassle with ordering parts and whatnot. I subscribed so I can see how you're comin' along. Goodluck!

MP5stephen, I'm going to be removing the turbo this week and I'll be putting up a thread just after.

Darren, I'm going to be no longer turbo now :(. I'd keep it if my engine had less miles. I can probably pay a little more to "pass" smog but it's not worth it to me.

I need some oil & water feed/drain lines and hardware... wanna help me out?

You can find what I used for the water lines here: Clicky

I'm not sure about the oil lines because they came with the turbo when I bought it. There's a link though on the protege5 page at the very top that has exactly what you need and where to get it. Everything is from ATP turbo.

yea man i totally feel you, it was definitely fun while it lasted. im currently piecing together a spare motor on the side so when mine grenades ill have an extra one hah im going on 165k.. then after that, gonna keep the p5 for a DD, then gettin a miata (breakn) ... hopefully.
