Yakima 21 with q towers? Does it actually fit?

Hey all,

Just browsing for a cargo box on Yakima's site. Yakima's fit guide says I can fit a 21 cubic foot skybox on the cx-5 with the q tower base? Anyone out there have any real world experience with this? Looking to haul a bunch of sleeping bags and foam mats for camping.

No reason for it not to fit. The Q tower forward bar position is a bit further forward than on my setup. I can fit a Skybox 12 and an 18 on and still open the hatch. The 21 is the same length as the 12. The biggest concern is the weight capacity. A 21 box can take a lot of gear but the rack is only rated at 125 lbs - 60 lbs for the box = only 65 lbs of gear.

Also need to consider the rear hatch which will hit any cargo box
